My favorite author’s latest.
I preordered this one.
It was a pure joy to started reading this book, but a training for new technician started and with two other people in the room, it was hard to concentrate.
I finished last few page at home.
The subtitles is “On Art and Care”
As I don’t have kids, I can’t understand fully, but at the same time, I feel connected to tiredness of endless care work and beautiful moment you can find in them.
Or, how I can easily give up even before start explaining what I really feel.
Because, it is so hard.
I feel like all of us have similar problems that we cannot fully communicate, and it haunts us but also it’s our sauce of joy. (Sometimes)
I wonder, for those with small children, especially who went through the pandemic with them in big city would think about this book.
It reminded me of our landlord and her small girl who lived first and second floor of our Brooklyn apartment.
That many memories of babysitting her through the door.
いつも読んでいる作家の最新作。
予約して買ったのは初めてかも。
楽しく読み始めたけれど、ちょうど仕事先で新しい技師さんのトレーニングが始まったのと重なって、集中して読むのが難しかった。
最後数ページは家で読み終える。
サブタイトルは “On Art and Care”
子育てという、常にケアを強要される状況の中で、どうやって物を書くのか。
細切れの時間と格闘しながら、でもその瞬間の美しさを書き留めようとする。
子供を育てていないわたしには本当にはわからないけれど、
まず言葉にしようとするだけで疲れてしまうような、その前に諦めてしまうような気持ちはわかる気がする。
それぞれの違う状況の中で、それぞれが押し殺している言葉、それとよろこび。
それをいろいろありつつも、こうやって外に出してくれる作家たちがいることのありがたさ。
子供がいて、いろんな気持ちを抱えている人が読んだらどうなのか聞いてみたいと思った。
特にパンデミックを小さな子供を育てながら乗り越えた人たち。
ブルックリンで階下に住んでいた、大家さん母娘を思い出しながら読んだ。
ドア越しにベビーシットしたこともあったな。

I started the latest Kate Zambreno.
After reading Woolf, I was like, I know this language!
It means that we live in the same time.
The story started under the pandemic in Brooklyn.
I found the word claustrophobic which I got so familiar since I started this job.
The narrator describes that the life in the small apartment during lock down.
And I remember that feeling very well.
As we seek escape on the beach, they did so in Prospect park.
ケイト・ザンブレノの新刊を読む。
ウルフの後に読むと、この言語知ってる！読める！って思うほどするする読めた。
つまりは同年代を生きている作家っていうことなんだろう。
パンデミック時のブルックリンでの子育ての場面から始まる。
閉所恐怖症、という言葉にどきっとした。
都会の狭いアパートに篭っていたあの時期は、閉所恐怖症だったのか。
わたしたちがビーチに行くことで息抜きしていたように、語り手はプロスペクト・パークという大きな公園に通う。
いろいろ蘇ってくる場面が多く、でも子育てなど知らない部分もあり、するする読み進めた。

It was easy in the afternoon, and I could read a lot.
I loved the chapter about spring.
Zambreno quotes Sei Shonagon, which I never read in English.
Still beautiful.
午後もさっと終わって、しっかり読書が進んだ。
春についての章がとても好きだった。
清少納言の引用が出てくる。
英語で読んでもやっぱりいいなぁと思う。
