yuko's diary 8/6/24

Tuesday.

I watered the garden while it was still dark.

I cannot see well, but that means I don’t spend too much on it, and that’s good on Tuesday.

Got ready quickly, and walked to work.

There were only 4 patients on the schedule, but we had 4 add-ons.

A patient told us their birthday saying “I’m old” so I told them “don’t say that” as I’m exactly same age as them.

I started new book from the library.

“All the Lovers in the Night” by Mieko Kawakami.

When I read Japanese book in English, I cannot stop thinking what was the original text like, and so it took me a while to get into the story.

It was supposed to be a quiet afternoon, but we ended up doing an ER.

I answered the phone, and when we went to pick up the patient, the nurses were joking with us like, why did you pick up the phone?

Don’t call us then..

I worked till 5 and walked home.

Saige came up happy to see me.

I did my workout and took a quick shower.

We had burrito for dinner.

It was nice and cool by the evening.

We slept while the fan is on.

火曜日。

5時、まだ薄暗いうちから水やり。

じっと観察できないからちょっとつまらないけれど、時間を忘れることがないのでさっと終えられる。

用意して、仕事へ。

今日は4件しか入ってなかったのに、朝から2件追加。

バタバタっと始まった。

患者さんの生年月日を必ず確認するのだけど、ある患者さんは83年生まれで、

「もう年寄りだわ」と笑うので、「同い年なんだから、そんなこと言わないで」と言ったら笑ってくれた。

図書館で借りた、川上未映子の『真夜中の恋人たち』を読み始める。

日本の本を英訳で読む時、どこかでオリジナルを想像しながら読むのでなかなか頭を使う。

少し時間がかかるけれど、そのうち慣れてストーリーに入っていける。

午後は静かになるはずが、また2件追加。

最後はわたしの終業間近にERから電話で、わたしが出て、受けることになった。

迎えにいったら、看護師さんたちに「なんで電話でたの？」とからかわれる。

じゃあ電話しないでよ～

5時まで働いて歩いて帰る。

少し下がったものの、まだまだ暑い。

セージが嬉しそうに迎えてくれた。

筋トレをしてからさっとシャワーを浴びる。

晩ごはんは夫が買ってきてくれたブリトー。

夜は涼しいけれど、扇風機をかけて寝た。

今日もよく働いてよく生きた。
