After watering, I collect more weed clippings.
It’s much easier when it’s not too hot.
Coffee, bagel.
Then I sow more fall seeds.
It’s been one week from last time, some of them are already sprouting.
I added some more, and sow new ones too.
I also planted mints inside, but the seeds are sooo tiny.
I have not confident growing them.
Then I wash and cleaned tomato seeds.
There are many small tasks.
We decided to have hotdog for lunch and then realized today there’s Garlic Festival is happening in town.
So after getting hotdog buns, we went there.
It was inside historic park with lots of trees.
First we talked with Mariah who sold her entire garlic to some restaurant.
Good for her.
So I got seed garlic from other people.
Gypsy Rose Music. Great name. 2 pounds for $16
Then we got Indian Tacos and Frybread from Indigenous people’s food truck.
I’ve never had frybread before and I loved it.
Tacos was made with frybread, too.
We sat down in the back on the lawn, and it was very peaceful.
The band was there.
I could also talk to a lady who has ceramic studio in the town,
and the Dutch guy whom I bought my willow from.
His girlfriend has sheep and she makes fur...
I should’ve bought that.
We enjoyed the fair for two hours and went home.
It was getting hot.
I made pumpkin soup with the first pumpkin of the year.
This variety is called small sugar, but it wasn’t as sweet as I expected.
Still good though.
It’s great that I can finish cooking whole pumpkin easily.
And it got lots of seeds.
水やりの後、昨日の残りの草を集める。
すずしいうちだと楽だな。
コーヒー、ベーグル。
それから秋野菜の種を撒く。
前回は１週間前だから、芽がでているものも。
それをよけて追加していったり、新しく足したり。
じわじわと汗が出てくる。
ミントの種を室内で植えてみたけれど、
まぁ細かいこと！うまく発芽するかなぁ。
トマトの種を洗って干したり、細かくすることがたくさんある。
お昼ごはんにホットドック食べよう、買出しに行こう、と話していたら、
今日はガーリックフェスティバルという町の小さなお祭りだったのを思い出した。
そのまま行ってみる。
広くて大きな木がたくさん生えている公園でいくつも出店が出ていた。
まずいつものマライアと話したら、今年はレストランがニンニクを買い占めていったと笑っていた。
他のひとからシードガーリックを購入。
これは食べられるし、植えることもできるもの。
Gypsy Rose Music というすてきな名前の種類を２パウンド１６ドル。
それからネイティブアメリカンの女性がやっているフードトラックで、
インディアン・タコスとフライブレッドを買って芝生の上で食べる。
フライブレッドは『Reservation Dogs』に出てきたやつ！
簡単に言うとあまくないドーナツのようなもので、タコスはそれを使ったものだった。
おなかいっぱい。
陶芸教室をしているという女性と話し、春に柳を２株購入したオランダ人のお兄さんとも再会した。
ガールフレンドが羊を飼っているからと、袋に詰めた羊毛を売っていたけれど、どうやって紡ぐのかわからなくてかいそびれた。買えばよかったな。
たっぷり２時間たのしんで帰宅。
暑くなってきたところで、後はのんびりして過ごした。
夜は初めて採れたカボチャでスープ。
スモールシュガーという種類で甘いかなと期待したけれど、やっぱり日本のカボチャよりは実が薄く、瓜っぽさがつよい。
その代わり種がおおい。種を集めて、炒めて食べよう。
さっぱりしたスープになった。トマトとトーストと一緒に。
