When I stepped out to water, there was a big deer standing by the tomato patch.
After watering, usually I take some break and eat but today I kept working.
First, I sow the fall seeds.
Then I pruned cherry tree and smoke tree.
Both are really old and neglected for so long, I don’t really know what to do.
Today I cut off dead branches, and those crossed each other.
Basically thinned them just like hair cut.
I feel like I should not do huge change on them.
They look much better.
Dan went for a run.
Coffee and banana.
I went back outside and cleaned branches and organized seeds etc.
I kept working.
As Dan was working on the back of stove,
we had bagel for lunch.
We took little nap.
Then he kept working.
I did what I could do.
Dinner was dumpling over rice with kale and tomato.
We watched Mets game.
They lost two games in rows, but finally won today.
Watched “Reservation Dogs” new episode.
I learned how indigenous people gather around dying person.
I prefer that than funerals.
水やりをしに外に出ると、トマト畑の横に立派な角のシカが立っていた。
水やり後、いつもならコーヒーを入れて休憩するところだけれど、
そのまま作業。
昨日計画したとおりに秋野菜の種を植える。
チェリーの木とスモークツリーの剪定。
どちらも古くて、しかもずっと放っておかれたので、どこから手をつけたらいいのか。
とりあえず枯れている枝を外し、内側に向いている枝、重なっているところを減らす。
つまり散髪みたいなもの。
こんなに古い木だと、大きな剪定はしないほうがいいのかもしれない。
終わったらさっぱりして見えた。
夫は走りに行ってきたよう。
コーヒー、バナナ。
それから刈った枝を片付けたり、採取した種を整理したり。
忙しくして過ごした。
夫は台所の床板の作業をしていたので、お昼はベーグルをかじった。
少しお昼寝。
午後はしっかり暑かったのだけど、夫は作業を続行。
わたしもできる範囲のことをした。
夜ご飯は餃子丼。
ケールとトマトを添えて。
メッツの試合の最後の方を見る。
ここ２日、ひどい負けが続いていたので、ようやく勝ってほっとする。
“Reservation Dogs”の最新話が配信されていたので見る。
死んでいくひとや、その家族のためにみんなで集まってご飯を食べたりするんだと初めて知った。
日本の法事みたいな、もうすこしゆるくてみんな普段着で、でもそのまま泊まり込んだりするみたい。
わたしはお葬式よりこっちのほうがいいなぁ。
