Between the time I watered in the morning and
when I came back from break,
deer ate a tomato.
It couldn’t go inside the patches, so ate the ones they can reach.
I don’t mind that.
But I wish they would eat whole tomato.
I worked on the fence of my apple tree.
Also cleared the weeds around it and sown calendula seeds.
It was cloudy in the morning, but got hot quickly.
I also did little pruning on apple tree and pear tree.
It’s much difficult in reality.
You can’t tell if it’s correct or not.
I potted up mulberry and goji berry seedlings.
Then organized some seeds.
I also made plan for fall garden.
The fall here’s very short but I’m trying to plant some cold hardy vegetables.
The lunch is Bolognese sauce with rice.
I thought it won’t be too hot in the shade in the afternoon,
but it was hot.
I tried to prune our old cherry tree.
I only cleared those suckers.
The next door is empty except Larry who is 80 years old.
I picked their mails and placed it by the door.
Later I heard Larry was shouting at the dog which means they escaped.
I went to collect them and talked with him.
Saige wasn’t happy.
Dinner was leftovers.
We watched Mission Impossible 2 which was terrible.
What happened in between 1 and 2?
水やりをしてからいったん休憩して、
収穫をしに外に出るまでの間にトマトひとつかじられてた。
いろいろ工夫した柵の中には入っていなくて、外から届く範囲のものをかじっているよう。
それくらいなら食べていいよ。
でもやっぱりせっかくなら丸ごと食べてほしいなぁ。
昨日仮置きしたリンゴの柵の続き。
ついでに根元の草を引き、カレンデュラの種を植える。
曇っていたのに一気に暑くなってしまった。
昨日学んだことを念頭に、リンゴとナシの剪定をしてみるけれど、
実際にはなかなか難しい。
合っているのかわからない感じが心許ない。
新しい植木鉢に桑と枸杞の苗を鉢上げしたり、
種の整理をしたり。
追加で購入した種をテーブルの上に広げて、秋に向けての計画を立てたりする。
ここの秋は短いけれど、できるだけ冬の間も成長して収獲できるものを。
お昼はボロネーゼソースをごはんの上にかけたもの。
午後、日陰だとそんなに暑くないかな、と外に出てチェリーの木の剪定をしてみたけれど、
暑い。根元に生えてきているものを刈っただけで終了。
お隣は８０歳のラリーを置いてみんなでかけているので、
溜まった郵便物を届けにいく。
夕方、ラリーが叫んでいて、あ、犬が外に出たなとわかる。
奥さんのデビーに頼まれていた通り捕まえにいって、ちょっとおしゃべりした。
セージはわたしを見て遊べると思ったのが的外れで残念そうだった。
夜はお昼の残りなど。
ミッション・インポッシブル２を見たら、まぁひどかった。
こんなに質の悪い映画ある？ってくらい。１との差にも驚いた。
