Saturday.
After watering, I painted on the east wall, but the sun was already beating and the white primer reflected and it was impossible.
I had to stop before noon.
Dan was putting pate around the window but he had to stop too.
We had bagels and took some rest.
We did stretching and stuff.
In the afternoon we went to hardware store to buy more primer and mulch for the garden.
I got wood shavings.
At a store, a young girl told me that she liked my pants.
This overall covered with paint??
It was nice though.
We made ramen and salad for lunch.
I cooked red cabbage and onion to put on ramen.
It was good.
Then we had a long and deep nap.
When we woke up, it was getting cool outside.
I went out to continue painting.
Except the tall place which Dan had to do it.
I moved to the south side and painted the back of the eaves.
Finally I’m getting close to finishing the primer.
Painting the house takes time.
I kept painting while Dan was cooking dinner.
Simple tomato sauce pasta.
We were ready to lay down and relax but then I realized that it’s the night of Perseid meteor shower.
We turned all the lights off and went outside.
It wasn’t completely dark yet, and as eyes are fixing more starts we could see.
There, we saw a meteor, and then big and bright one.
We can only shout it was so fast.
I think we saw 3,4 shooting stars, and it was so beautiful.
Not only the stars but the fact that we watched together.
土曜日。
水やり後、東側の壁の、雨樋の裏を塗っていく。
これが大変だった。
太陽も当たるし、白い下地の反射もあるしで、そうそうにギブアップ。
日が沈んでからやることにする。
夫はパテ埋めをしていたけど、こちらも暑くなって、お昼前には室内に退避。
朝ごはんがまだだったのでベーグルを食べる。
ストレッチしたりしてのんびりすごす。
お昼すぎに買い物に出る。
また下地がなくなってきたので買い足して、マルチ用におが屑を。
立ち寄ったスーパーで、若い女性に、そのズボンかわいいね！と言われて一瞬戸惑う。
このペンキだらけのオーバーオールが？と思ったけど、ありがとう、これ、子供用なの、と返事する。
帰宅後、ラーメンとサラダでお昼ご飯。
具になるものがないなぁと思ったけど、紫キャベツと玉ねぎを甘辛く炒めたものと、トマトで赤いラーメン。
なかなかおいしかった。
その後ぐっすりお昼寝。
起きたらだいぶ涼しくなっていた。
朝の続きのペンキ塗り。
高いところは夫にやってもらう。
わたしは南側の壁に移って、同じように雨樋の裏を塗っていく。
いよいよ最後の部分まできた。
家を塗るのは時間がかかるなぁ。
下地だけでもう終わりたい気持ち‥。
暗くなるまでやっていて、夫は途中から晩ごはん作りに切り替えてくれた。
シンプルなトマトソースのパスタ。
夫はいつもパスタにトーストを添えて食べる。
祖母がシシリア系だから？
なんともよくわからないと思っていたけど、トーストにトマトソースをつけると、ピザみたいな味でおいしい。
そのままダラダラしかけたけど、今日はペルセウス座流星群が見える日だと思い出す。
家の電気を消して外に出るとまだ暗くなり切ってない。
ちょっと雲も出ているし、見えないかも、と思いつつ、お庭のいちばん暗いところに立って見上げ続けると、ひとつ、しゅっと流れた。
わぁっ！と言うのが精一杯な、ほんとうに一瞬の出来事。
夫と一緒に見れた大きな流れ星はすごく明るくて、今まで見た中でいちばんかも、と話した。
その後小さいのが少し見れたくらいだったけれど、なんとも楽しい夜になった。
