yuko's diary 8/10/26

Monday.

I woke up little after 6 and watered the garden.

Dan also got up and picked some tomatoes.

He also cleaned around the garden.

Dan made bruschetta.

With tomatoes, garlic and basil from garden.

It was great blanch.

Then Dan went to lay down.

I wasn’t sleepy, but decided to lay down with him.

Then slowly, as if it was hiding somewhere deep in me, sleep came over.

We took two hour nap. Oops.

Then we went to the town.

I tried to send a package to my niece, but the post office was too crowded, and the computer froze.

While waiting in line, I overheard that someone evacuated even though they live miles away from town.

With horses and pigs.

There is always evacuation site for large animals.

It was crowded, they said.

We went to co-op and got some groceries.

Stopped at community center.

Evacuates are moving towards long-term support.

It’s not over.

Back home, we did BBQ.

I put potatoes, sweet potato, corn and my peppers in first.

While baking my bread.

Dan marinated chicken thighs and cooked it.

It was all so good.

I love eating lots of vegetables.

We took another nap.

Then I went out to water.

No irrigation yet.

For dinner, we just had leftover from lunch.

It was still good.

We both took shower and went to bed.

It was a great weekend.

月曜日。

今日は6時過ぎに起きて水やり。

夫も一緒に出てきて、トマトを収穫したり、あれこれ片付けてくれた。

食パンとサワードウを仕込む。

お庭のトマト、ニンニク、バジルを使って、ブルスケッタをつくってくれる。

10時過ぎのブランチ。

薄めに焼いたトーストがカリカリでおいしかった。

その後夫はお昼寝、わたしは眠くないなぁと思ったけれど、夫の隣で横になる。

ひっついているとじんわり暖かくて、眠気がどこからか滲み出てきて、そのまま2時間くらい寝た。

びっくり。

起きてから町へ。

郵便局に姪っ子のプレゼントを出しに行ったけれど、混んでいて、さらに機械がフリーズして諦める。

聞こえてきた世間話で、町から離れたところに住んでいるけど避難した、と。

馬や豚も一緒に避難したそう。

大型動物の避難場所がいつもアナウンスされるけれど、今回も混んでいたとのこと。

コープで買い物して、コミュニティセンターをのぞく。

ここに避難していた人たちは、長期避難へ移行するところらしい。

まだまだこれから大変だ。

帰宅して、パンを焼きつつ、バーベキューを始める。

ジャガイモ、サツマイモ、トウモロコシ、お庭のペッパーを先に焼き始める。

夫は鶏もも肉のマリネ担当。

野菜がほぼ完成したところで鶏肉を投入。

どれもこれも、すごくおいしくできた。

野菜たっぷりのごはんが一番好き。

満足してまたお昼寝。

本当によく眠れる。

夕方、外に出て水やり。

用水路はまだ直っていない。むむ。

お昼の残りで晩ごはん。

鶏肉、冷めても味が染みていておいしい。

野球中継を聴きながら、交代でシャワーを浴びて、おふとんに入る。

いい週末だった。
