Saturday.
I woke up little after 5 and watered the garden twice as usual.
I don’t know when I can water next time.
I talked to my plants and took 4 hours to finish.
Then we did all things we were thinking to do yesterday.
Went to the recycle center and emptied garbage cans.
Filled them with water. Bathtub too.
Closed all windows and gathered things to bring. Moved all framable things away from house.
Changed horse setting and got ready to sprinkle water on the house.
While doing that, I also did some laundry and cleaning.
We went to see the town too. Some people are panicking, and most people are acting usual.
We had lunch, and took shower, and tried to lay down and got an alert.
Level two, ready to go.
We packed our car, and checked everything, when sheriff came to tell us leave.
We asked if we should go to East or south.
They said south.
We checked our neighbor and left.
First, we drove all the way to two town southern from us.
We went to a restaurant and had dinner.
Everything was normal Saturday there.
Wow, it was weird.
We got cups of coffee afterwards.
It’s been months since I had coffee.
It was fresh and really really good.
Then we moved north and went to the community center in Omak.
The red cross was setting up a shelter here.
In a big basketball court, several cots are lining up.
We registered and got our cots, and tried to get some rest.
Around 10 am, we saw the wind died down.
We worried that our house is soaked in water and also wanted to check the neighbor, we decided to go back to take a look.
We were afraid that we overreacted.
Before we got to the town, we could see the fire and frame.
It was like a bright line moving.
It was really horrifying and we just decided to go right back after took care of water.
Our hope to sleep in home was gone.
Home is not the house, but anywhere we can be together and stay safe.
Our house that we worked by ourselves and my garden that I worked for years.
Both are precious to us, but I am really in a calm place.
It might be a shock, but I know I can make new one again if I have to.
If you stay alive, life will go on, and I like that very much.
At the evacuation center, I couldn’t really sleep.
I am really lucky that I’ve never been in this situation even though I grew up in Japan where earthquakes are just unavoidable.
I thought about all people who had to evacuate whole night.
