yuko's diary 7/17/26

Friday.

I woke up 5 and watered the garden.

There was a thunderstorm last night, but I still watered supplementally.

And sow some seeds.

Hope I can get some fall harvest.

We got ready and left house before 11.

The fist lost lake trip of the year.

It was cloudy, so we packed long sleeves too.

The camping site was full of people but nobody was beside the lake.

We could get our usual table and bench.

First, we jumped in water.

As always, it is hard to go in, but then the body quickly adjust to it.

It was extra hard as it was the first time in the year.

This is such a great metaphor.

We put our shoes on, and played catch.

It wasn’t too hot nor cold, just perfect weather.

We ate pasta salad in the shade.

Then we stayed around and just had good time.

This old guy started talking to us, and he told us that their family union is held here since his grandparents generation.

Meet up on the third Sunday of July.

I like it.

Stayed two hours, and drive little less than two hours.

It’s like a short vacation.

Back home, we did BBQ.

Potatoes, peppers, and drumsticks.

Dan usually doesn’t like bony meat, but he liked it this one.

We finally set up AC.

It really helps.

We listened to the baseball radio.

It was a fun summer break.

金曜日。

5時すぎに起きて水やり。

昨日も夜中に雷雨だったので、いらないかなと思いつつ、追加的にやる。

そのまま種まきも。

秋の野菜、採れるかな〜。

準備して、11時前に出発。

今日は今年初めてロストレイクへ。

朝は薄曇りだったので、長袖も持っていく。

キャンプ場は混んでいたけれど、湖には誰もいない。

いつものテーブルとベンチも確保できて満足。

まずひと泳ぎ。

最初に飛び込む時、いつも勇気がいる。

今年初めてだからなおさらだ。

すぐに慣れてなんてことなくなる。

これっていろんなことのメタファーだなと思う。

上がって、水着のまま靴だけ履いてキャッチボール。

暑くもなく寒くもなく、ただただ完璧な気温。最高に気持ちいい。

朝つくって持ってきたパスタサラダを木陰で食べる。

その後もうしばらくのんびりする。

ここで祖父母の代から毎年家族で集まっているというおじいさんとおしゃべりした。

毎年7月の第三日曜日に、という決まりらしい。

なんだかいいな。

滞在時間は2時間程度、道のりは往復2時間弱。

ちょっとした小旅行みたいで楽しい。

帰宅して、バーベキュー。

ポテト、パプリカ、手羽元。

夫は骨付きの肉が少し苦手なのだけど、焦げるくらいまで焼いたからか、美味しく食べていた。

クーラーを設置する。

涼しいだけでだいぶ楽だな、やっぱり。

野球中継を聴きながらのんびりする。

とても楽しい夏休み。
