yuko's diary 6/7/25

Saturday.

I woke up 5, and planted new trees.

One almond tree that I thought it died, and replaced it.

But it was actually still alive.

Oh no.

I put it in the bucket.

The second one is mountain ash.

It will produce orange or red berries.

I watered whole garden, and had breakfast, and it was too hot outside.

Dan went to help old farmer.

I sow seeds in a cups which hold peppers and eggplants.

Herbs, and vegetable for fall.

I don’t know if it works, but will try.

I started sourdough bread, and stayed inside whole afternoon.

Dan came home little after 1, and brought back pizza.

I ate my toast for lunch, so no pizza for me.

We took a nap, and I baked my sourdough.

It was little big over rose than yesterday, but it turned out great.

Wrote one letter.

Our neighbor Debi came to ask if she can hire Dan to fix irrigation pipe.

He was sleeping, so I told her that we will come back.

I heated up leftover pasta, and ate.

I baked shokupan, and did workout.

We went to the next door, and took a look of the broken pipe.

The city came to put the electric pole and broke it four years ago, and their repair didn’t last.

I suspect one reason be the pipe is too close to surface.

Anyway, we will fix it tomorrow.

We talked Dan’s sister over the phone, and drink chamomile tea and lemon barm tea.

It stayed light outside, and sunny.

Summer evening.

土曜日。

5時に起きて昨日届いた木を植える。

1本目は、春に植えたけれど葉が出てこなかったアーモンド。

もうダメになっているだろうなと思ったけれど、抜いてみると、まだ生きていた。

わー、しまった。

とりあえず水につけておく。

2本目は、アッシュという北アメリカ原産の低木。

オレンジまたは赤の実をつける。

これはハーブガーデンの横に。

水やりをたっぷりして、朝ごはんを食べたらもう外は暑すぎる。

夫は手伝いに出かけた。

ペッパー類を植えて空いた容器に種を植える。

ハーブや秋に向けて育てるものたち。

うまくいくかどうか不安だけど、とりあえずやってみる。

パンも仕込んで、午後は家の中でのんびりする。

夫はお昼過ぎに帰宅。

冷凍ピザを買ってきて食べていた。

わたしはトーストを食べたのでパス。

少しお昼寝して、サワードウから焼く。

昨日より少しだけ発酵が進んでいるなと思ったけれど、きれいに膨らんでくれた。

手紙を1通。

お隣のデビーが来て、夫に用水路の水漏れを直して欲しいとのこと。

夫は昼寝中だった後で見に行きますと返事しておく。

お腹が空いたので昨日のパスタを温めて食べる。

食パンも焼いて、ワークアウトをする。

今日は脚。

6時半ごろ、お隣に行って、問題のパイプをチェックする。

数年前に市の職員が、電信柱を建てた時に壊してしまったらしい。

直してあったけれど、直したところから漏れている。

あーあ。

地面のすぐ下なのが幸いして、あんまり掘らなくても直せそうだけど、冬の間の凍結があるので、本来は深く埋まってる方がいい。

とりあえず明日、ホームセンターが開いたら行くことにする。

夫の妹と電話して、ピザを摘んで、のんびりした夕べ。

カモミールとレモンバームのお茶を飲む。

いつまでも明るくて、夏の夕べ。

夜、今年初めて窓を開けて眠った。
