Woke up early.
I picked lavender, then continued harvesting milky oats.
I worked until the sun is out.
Finally finished one row.
The rest is around the potatoes which is getting ready to dig out.
I will cut them down slowly.
It was totally coincidence, but those oats covered potatoes, so I don’t have to cover them.
I will do the same next year.
Coffee, yogurt with cherry jam and cereal.
I tried milky oats tea.
It was not delicious, but supposed to be very good.
We went to get Azure delivery.
Last month, we were too late to order.
I was sad that we didn’t have rice for a while.
Back home, we ate bagels and watched AOC on The Late Show.
She is right, Supreme Court has gone rogue.
I lost all respect for them.
First, for president, and now this.
I really hope this means that citizens will get their power back.
After rest while, I stated working on the door in between kitchen and bedroom.
First layer is always messy.
But I managed to put corner bead in place.
Saige was outside, Dan told me that she is lonely.
I went out to meet her and we walked around the property.
But there were too many mosquitoes after the shower.
I needed to go inside.
Told her sorry through window, she was crying sadly.
I really wanted to eat rice for dinner.
Made miso soup with carrots and daikon.
Then I cooked kale, and chicken with herbs.

It was good, but I rarely see those feels good movie anymore,
so it felt little odd.

早く起きて、まずラベンダーを摘み、それから昨日の続き、
ミルキーオーツの収穫。
まだ日陰のうちから、日が照ってくるまでやって、ひと畝終える。
おおー、達成感。
残りはそろそろ掘るタイミングの、ジャガイモの周りに生えているので、少しずつ刈っていこう。
ジャガイモは日光に当たるとソラニンがまわって、食べられないイモができるのだけど、
まわりに植えたオーツの影になっているので、今回はその心配がなかった。
これは棚ぼただったけれど、使えるアイデア。
コーヒー、ヨーグルトにチェリージャムとシリアルをかけたもの。
昨夜、ミルキーオーツにお湯を注いでカバーしておいたものを飲んでみる。
んー、おいしくはないけれど、飲めなくもない。
どこか、昆布のような風味。
マグネシウムを補うためにしばらく続けてみようと思う。
今日は月一の配達の日。
先月はうっかり注文するのを忘れていて、けっこう困った。
なにより、お米が切れてしまったのが痛かった。
受け取って帰宅し、ベーグルを食べる。
食べながら、AOCがレイトショーに出ていた回を観る。
最高裁の判決は、権力のoutreachと言っていた。つまり、本来の役目を超えた暴走。
三権分立であるべきなので、他のふたつ、大統領と国会が暴走を止めなくてはいけない。
リンカーンも、ルーズベルトも、最高裁の判決を認めず行動した前例があるそう。
あとは、アメリカの最高裁判事って、世間の尊敬を集める対象で、
結構話題に出るし、個人名も知られている。
選挙前になって名前を調べるだけの日本の最高裁判事とは格が違う感じだったのだけれど、
今回の件で、もうその権威が地に落ちたどころかマイナスになった感じがある。
トランプによって大統領が、今回で最高裁が、それぞれの権威が崩れていく。
これで、目が覚めた市民に力がもどればいいのだけれども。
しばらく休憩したあと、今日は寝室とキッチンの間のドアにとりかかる。
古いドアを外した後をきれいに仕上げるのだ。
まずコーナービードを貼っていく。
ひとつめのレイヤーはどうしても綺麗にできないけれど、それでいい。
後で挽回できたり、細かく調整できるのがこの作業のすきなところ。
終わりかけのころに、外で木工作業していた夫が、
セージが寂しがってるよ、と言う。
あら、きてたの、と外に出て、今日もお庭を一周した。
でも通り雨の後の夕方で、蚊がすごくてなかに入る。
窓から、セージごめんね、と言うと、クーンと鳴いていた。
夜はやっぱり白米を食べたくて、ダイコン、ニンジンをお味噌汁に、
ケールを炒めて、チキンのハーブ焼き。タイムとローズマリー、これは去年乾燥させたもの。
夜、”Hustle” を観る。
アダム・サンドラーと大好きなクィーン・ラティファ。
アダム・サンドラーは奇作が多いからちょっと警戒したけれど、
とてもストレートなfeels good movieだった。
ここまで捻りのないというか、王道の近作を久しぶりに見たと思う。
