Woke up 6. Waited until Dan got up, and went back home.
I tried the wheelbarrow. It was not as hard as I though. Love it.
I brought some burnt woods, weeds, and rocks to the side of garden.
Then I dug deep where I’m planning to plant potatos.
Dan was taking skirting off of the house.
We will check underneath the house if there’s anything we have to remove. Also we will connect waer pipes there. hmm.
Wasps are everywhere!
He cooked eggs and toast with cheese.
It got hot by noon.
We came back to the rental, and did laundry, and took nap.
As we brought some cooking tool, we made a late lunch: tofu, rice, kimchi, anc vegetable.
While cooking, Dan called his sister.
After that, we decided not to go to dinner at M’s, so instead, we ventured out. It was probably mistake.
I’ve never experienced this kind of heat. 106. It was pure heat, no humidity. The wind made it worse.
We went to the supermarket and got some snacks.
After that, we stayed put. Basement is crazy. Despite of the heat wave outside, it is almost cold insde. It made me think if we have more basement room in Japan, but then it would be too humid.
I couldn’t sleep well.
６時に起きる。地下室は寒いくらいだった。
夫が起きるのを待って、一緒に家へ。
さっそく一輪車を試す。思っていたよりも扱いやすい。楽しい～。
燃え残りの材木や、引き抜いた草、掘り返した石なんかを運ぶ。とりあえず端のほうにまとめておいた。
それからポテトを植えるつもりのところを深く掘る。ここの土はいい感じだ。
夫は家のハカマというのだろうか、縁の下の覆いのようなものを取り外していた。配管と、いろいろチェックするのに必要らしい。
アシナガバチがとっても多い。最初はびっくりしたけど、すぐ慣れた。
それからトーストにチーズと目玉焼きを載せたものを作ってくれて食べた。
お昼頃にはもう暑い。
戻ってゆっくりする。洗濯をしたり。お昼寝したり。
食材や食器もいろいろ持ち帰ったので、ご飯を炊いて、キムチと豆腐ときゅうりとトマトで遅いお昼ご飯。
作っている間に夫の妹と電話する。
夕方、夜は自分たちでなんかしようとそとに出たけど、笑えるくらい暑い。４１度。湿度は低いのだけど、こう、なんか遠赤外線を全身に浴びているような暑さ。風が吹くとまさに熱風。わー、これはすごい、経験したことのない暑さ。ある意味気持ちいいくらい清々しい。
笑いながらスーパーまで行って、でも何も考えられずにとりあえずワカモレとチップスだけ買ってすぐに帰る。車をなんとか日陰に停め直す。
あとはもう家の中でひっそりとしていた。とにかく地下室ってすごい。外があんななのに、中は寒いくらいで長袖だ。アメリカは地下室がある家が多いけれど、日本ではそんなにないな、あれば夏は涼しいのにと思ったけれど、問題は湿度だろうな～。
夜はなかなか寝付けなかった。
