Friday.

Dan left for work.

I watered my garden. It will be hot today.

After I finished all cleaning, I harvested indigo leaves from container.

This year I grow them both outside and inside.

The outside ones are still small and pale, but the stems are strong.

Hopefully they will grow bigger from here.

Anyway, I dyed my old silk socks, and it always amazes me.

I collected leftover blue water.

Then I harvested garlic.

I was wrong to think they are small judging from their leaves.

They were big ones.

That was nice surprise.

I harvested them all, and scattered chick pea and wheat there.

Covered with wood chips.

Dan came home with new battery for his car.

I don’t think I can do it by myself, but for him, it’s not big deal.

The new battery is really nice.

I bundled garlics and hang them on the porch of mobile home.

It looked like a crazy home.

Vampire wouldn’t come close.

We bought lunch at co-op, and had great nap.

Mets were at Chicago, and this Japanese rookie pitcher was doing great, but not today.

It was too hot to do anything in the afternoon.

I untangled the socks, and wrote a letter.

When we walked to the mailbox, there was a new letter in it.

We went to get ravioli and salad for dinner.

Went to bed early.

Nice day again.

金曜日。

夫は仕事へ。

わたしは水やりから。

今日は暑くなる。

ひと通り片付けも終わったところで、コンテナで育てていた藍の葉を摘み取る。

今年は半木陰でも育てているけれど、こっちは葉っぱの色が薄い。

茎はしっかりしているので、これから元気になってくれればいいけれど。

葉っぱに塩を一振り、それからちぎるようにして揉んでいく。

途中で絹の靴下を投入。

最初は緑だったのが、気づいたら青緑になっているのがいつも不思議。

葉っぱを落として、さっと水洗いし、外に干す。

残った色水を集めてみた。これで絵の具とか作れるかな？

そのあと、残りのニンニクの収穫を。

葉っぱの大きさから判断して、小さいかもしれないなと思っていたのだけど、

なんと、先に収穫したものより大きい！

しっかりしたニンニクがたくさん取れてうれしかった。

全部収穫して、ヒヨコ豆と麦をざっと播いて、ウッドチップスを被せておく。

途中で夫も帰宅。

車のバッテリーの調子が悪いので、新しいものを買ってきて、交換していた。

こういうこと、普通にじぶんでやるのがアメリカだな～と思う。

わたしだったら専門家に頼みたい。

50個ほどか、採れたニンニクは束にして、モバイルホームのポーチの軒先に吊るした。

なんかの儀式みたいになって楽しい。

ヴァンパイアは絶対来ない。

お昼はコープで買ってきたスープとサンドイッチ。

メッツはシカゴカブスとの試合で、ルーキーで絶好調の今永投手との対戦だったけれど、バンバン打っていた。あらまぁ。

しっかりしたお昼寝。

起きたら時間の感覚がわからなくなるくらい寝た。

午後は暑くて、あんまり何もできない。

のんびりしたり、染めた靴下を解いて糸にしたりする。今回のは少し濃い色になった。

手紙を一通書いて出しに行ったら、郵便箱に別の手紙が届いていた。

夜ご飯の買い出し、サラダとラビオリ。

ラビオリはNYにいる時の定番の夕食だったなぁ。懐かしい。

今日も早寝。
