Cloudy morning.
It rains and stopped.
Coffee.
I knew it will be hot and sunny from Monday.
From mid-70s with rain to high 80s.
Summer solstice would be early morning of 21st, so that really marks the beginning of the summer.
I wanted to finish weeding before the heat.
Especially around the second garden.
The sun came out and it got hot very quick.
I laid down under the walnut tree.
Lunch was ravioli and salad.
Dan picked baby arugula and onion.
The onion was still so small, but sweet!
We ate some in raw in salad.
We had a rest for an hour.
Watched a stand-up comedy.
Then we back to work.
I studied more about winter crops.
Something would survive frost and snow...
on the ground?
Or overwinter and could harvest in early spring...
Dan was working on the bedroom molding.
He finished around the door to the bathroom and north side of the wall.
It is small part, but makes big difference.
Then he made omelet for dinner with potatoes.
He used the rest of fresh onion.
Very good.
I was sleepy since the evening,
but I couldn’t sleep.
Dan fell asleep by 9.
曇りの朝。
雨もちらちら。
コーヒー。
天気予報を見ていると、週明けから急に晴れて暑くなる。
曇りや雨の多い２３度とかから２８～３０度くらいまであがりそう。
ここの季節は一気に変わるなぁ。
２１日の朝方が夏至だから、ほんとうにそこでくっきりわかれる。
今のうちに、と、ふたつめのお庭の周りの草引きをする。
アリに気をつけながら。
肌寒かったけれど、雲の合間から太陽が出ると暑く感じる。
くるみの木の下で寝転んだりしながら。
お昼はラビオリとサラダ。
２回目に撒いたルッコラの芽がすごい勢いで出てきたので、それをいただいた。
夫が試しに採ってみた玉ねぎはすごく小さくて、でも苦味がなくて甘い。
生ですこしサラダに入れて食べたらおいしかった。
午後はいったん休憩。
スタンダップ・コメディを見て笑った。
それからまた作業にもどる。
冬の野菜についてもう少し調べてみる。
他にも植えられそうなものがいくつかあった。
土は凍ってしまうから、地上で、霜が降りても雪が降っても大丈夫なもの。
それか、ニンジンみたいに、春まで土の下で生き残ってくれるもの。
ダイコンはダメだったから‥、といろいろ考える。
夫は寝室とバスルームの間のドアと、北側の壁の裾板をつけてくれた。
ほんとうに小さなパーツなのに、いきなり部屋が完成した！
ドアはとくに枠ができて、ドア！になった。
そういえば、どこでもドアも枠がある。なるほど～。
あちこちに作業の跡が残る様子も好きだけれど、これはこれで好き。
夕食はオムレツとポテト、という朝食みたいなメニュー。
残りのタマネギをつかって夫がつくってくれた。
おいしい。
夕方から眠い。
でもなぜか寝付けなかった。
夫は９時にはねてしまった。
