Wednesday.
There was a light frost but not too bad.
Today I was off work, so I went to volunteer at Dan’s work place.
I got to meet his new coworker and other volunteers I’ve met last year.
We packed boxes for senior, and we went to high school to pick up plants.
We loaded truck and left to another town.
He dropped me on the way there.
There were many things happens there, and always busy.
He has to move a lot but this job was needed.
I had leftover pasta for lunch, and cleaned the room.
Then I did laundry, and went outside.
It got hot quickly, and it will be like summer in two days.
Plants cannot take this.
I need to watch them.
I studied BLS in the afternoon.
Boiled chickpeas, and made coconut curry soup.
We only had carrots with us, but with lentils and diced tomato, it was good.
The afternoon sun was hitting hard.
It was too much for nettles that I just planted.
I put an umbrella next to them to protect.
Hope they would survive.
Dan came home around 4, he mowed little bit.
The sky is always so beautiful.
I can left plants out from tonight.
I am still learning about this weather.
Went to bed early.
水曜日。
今日もうっすら霜。
でも昨日みたいに植物は凍ってなくてホッとする。
今日は仕事が休みなので、夫の職場で半日ボランティア。
新しい同僚にも会えたし、以前一緒にボランティアした人たちにも会えた。
ベルトコンベア状に設置された作業場で、乾物を箱に詰めていく。
これはシニア世代用のプログラムで、月に一回いろんな乾物を詰めて配布する。
5人でワーっと作業して1時間ほどで終わる。
その後地元の高校が寄付してくれた苗を取りに行く。
でっかいビニールハウスは暖房、空調、水道完備で圧倒された。
トマトの苗をざっと200くらい、高校生たちがトラックまで運んでくれる。
それからさらに荷物を積んで、別の町のフードバンクへ配達。
途中で家まで送ってもらってわたしは帰宅。
くるくるといろんなことが起こるし、毎日違うことがあって忙しい職場だなと改めて思った。
体力も使うし。
でもすごく必要とされている仕事だ。
昨日のパスタをお昼ごはんに食べて、部屋を片付けて洗濯。
それからお庭を見て回る。
気温はぐんと上がって、明後日から一気に夏日。
これは植物たちもしんどいだろう。
気をつけて見ていよう。
午後はBLSの勉強。
乾燥ヒヨコ豆を戻して茹でる。
それからココナツカレースープをつくった。
具材はレンズ豆とニンジンだけだけど、角切りのトマト缶があったのでなかなかボリュームが出た。
午後の太陽がしっかり照っていて、植えたところのイラクサはくったり。
慌てて隣に傘をさす。
生き残ってくれるといいな。
夫は4時ごろ帰宅。
少し芝刈りをしてくれた。
夕陽が今日もきれい。
冷え込みは終わって、今日からは苗を出しっぱなしにしても大丈夫そう。
1日であっという間に初夏になってしまった。
気温の変化はまだまだ学び中。
早めに就寝。
