yuko's diary 5/26/26

Tuesday.

I went to the hospital as usual.

While we are getting the first patient, the machine acted weird and we had to restart.

I did IV while waiting.

But that didn’t solve the problem.

We had to try everything, and nothing worked.

The patient was generous but we had to cancel today and tomorrow. Jeez.

We cleaned up the mess and contacted everywhere.

Then we cleaned the trailer throughly until noon.

I worked home, stopped at the library.

Dan was ready to leave for work.

I packed a snack that my colleague gave us.

Oh well..

I changed and went to the garden.

I tilled rows and sow beans and cucumbers.

The soil temp is just getting there, so it might not work but I have enough to replace.

I tilled tomato rows.

Rest are pumpkins and more beans.

It was humid again, but no rain.

I took break and had a good nap.

I was tired I guess.

After dinner, I did my workout.

Then wrote an email.

I started new book.

“The Beginning Comes After the End” by Rebecca Solnit.

It’s a short one.

Recently I listened to a podcast interview about this book.

So it was easy to read.

Dan came home little earlier than usual.

We could talk before going to bed and that was really nice.

火曜日。

いつも通り病院へ。

最初の患者さんのセッティングをしているとき、機械の様子がおかしいので、リスタートすることに。

待っている間にIVのルート確保。

ところがその後何を試してもダメで、1時間くらい経って諦めることに。

患者さんは快く許してくれたけれど、今日も明日も全部キャンセル。あーあ。

バタバタと片付けて、あちこちに連絡。

午前中はトレイラーの大掃除をして、12時に解散することにした。

図書館に寄り、歩いて帰宅すると、夫がちょうど仕事に出かけるところ。

同僚がくれたスナック菓子を小分けにして持たせる。

さぁどうしよう。

とりあえず着替えてお庭へ。

畝を耕して、豆とキュウリの種を蒔く。

土の温度がギリギリのラインだから、発芽しないかもしれないけれど、種に余裕があるので、ダメならまた蒔けばいい。

トマトの畝も最後まで作業したので、後はカボチャの畝だけ。

今日も蒸し蒸ししていて、雨が降るかなと期待したけれど、降らずに終わった。

途中で休憩してお昼寝。

ぐったり深い眠りで、じぶんでびっくりした。

夜ごはんの後でワークアウト。

それからメールを書く。

今日借りてきた本を読み始める。

レベッカ・ソルニットの最新刊、”The Beginning Comes After the End”

始まりは終わりの後に来る。

彼女にしては短い本。

先日、この本についてのインタビューを聞いたので、すんなりと読み進められた。

夫がいつもより30分早めに帰宅。

それだけで色々おしゃべりできて楽しかった。
