Friday.
Dan is off work today.
I started with weeding.
Then we went to the Small Wood Farm.
It’s close to Dan’s work.
There were many families and friends having lunch.
We had BBQ sauce pulled pork with potato salad.
It was really really good.
Dan finished all.
The breeze was nice, and we stayed for a while.
Then we got many fresh vegetable at the stand.
We also stopped at the other restaurant to pick up bread.
A productive and fun short trip.
Back home, we took it very easy.
Took naps, and ate leftovers.
In the night, we cooked vegetables from the farm.
Boiled corn, and sautéed asparagus with garlic stems from my garden.
It was all sooo good.
I love asparagus so much.
Not those from supermarket, but from farm.
Then we learned about the different names of clouds.
It was something we are saying for years.
Now we know that cumulonimbus is not something we made up.
I didn’t know that some clouds in high altitude is made of 100% ice.
It was a great holiday.
金曜日。
夫は仕事お休みの日。
のんびり起きて、わたしはまず草引き。
お昼前に出発して、スモール・ウッド・ファームという、レストランとショップつきのオーガニック農園へ。
気持ちのいい天気。
夫の職場からもう少し行ったところにあって、ちょうどよく混んでいた。
ポーチは家族や友達同士でランチしに来ているひとでいっぱい。
バーベキューソースで和えたポークサラダ、ポテトサラダ付き。
紫キャベツの千切りが載っていて、ぱくぱく食べた。
夫は完食。
風が気持ち良くて、食べた後もしばらくのんびりした。
それから目当ての売店へ。
コーン、アスパラガス、シャロット、タマネギ、イチゴ、とたくさん購入した。
今年はまだ町のファーマーズマーケットに行けていないから、なんだかその代わりみたい。
帰り道に、別のレストランに寄って、パンも購入。
なかなか充実した日帰り旅行だった。
帰ってお昼寝して、残り物を食べたり、のんびり過ごす。
今日はなんにもしない日。
夜、日が暮れてから、晩ご飯を。
ファームで買ってきたトウモロコシを茹でる。
アスパラガスをにんにくバターで炒めようとして、ニンニクがなかったので、
お庭のニンニクの花芽をカットして使う。これがなかなかおいしい。
パンやチーズもいっしょに食べた。
スーパーで売っているアスパラガスにはもう戻れなさそう。
味がとっても複雑で、いくらでも食べられる。
夜、わたしと夫がずっと気になっていた、雲の名前についてYouTubeで学んだ。
19世紀に、雲が大好きな薬剤師がつくったシステムで、いまでも使われているもの。
高さと形で分類する。
Cumulonimbus というのが唯一わたしたちが知っていた名前で、いわゆる積乱雲のこと。
キュミロニンバス、魔法の呪文みたいで楽しくて、おもしろい雲を見るといつも言っていた。
ちゃんと調べないままだったので、どれがそうかは知らないままだった。
これでようやくすっきりした。
高いところで、刷毛ですっとひいたような雲は、氷でできているらしい。へー！
とってもいい休日だった。
