yuko's diary 5/24/26

Sunday.

I watered the garden and started rye bread and shokupan.

The turnips in the garden are still small, but I decided to harvest.

With some radishes, I will ferment them.

Last year, I ate so much cucumber this way.

I will try with other vegetables this year.

I thinned asian greens and lettuce, and cooked them with bacon and garlic sauce.

I made rice toppings from radish leaves and we ate them with dumplings and brown rice.

After Dan left for work, I did laundry.

Then baked rye bread.

Cleaned the house.

The sun is strong, I stayed inside whole afternoon.

The cherry is not fruiting and I was sad.

I worry that it might be dying and so I decided to propagate them.

I hope it will work.

Then I had this blank time.

I haven’t had this for while.

Naturally I thought I want to make something with hands.

I need some empty space and time to be creative.

I ate leftover for lunch.

I did my workout then went out to the garden.

I cleaned and tilled the rows for beans and cucumbers.

I cut down cover crops and rye.

When I’m working in the garden, Saige came up to my face and scared me.

I finished “Sisters in Yellow”

The question I had finally got answer in the end.

It had so much going on till the very end and I was deep in the world after I finished.

I want to read it in Japanese too.

日曜日。

今日も水やりから。

ライ麦パンと食パンを仕込む。

お庭のカブはまだ小さいけれど収穫してしまう。ラディッシュも。

葉っぱはふりかけにして、実は発酵させる。

去年キュウリのピクルスにはまってたくさん作ったのだけど、正確には、塩水につけて乳酸醗酵させたもの。

今年はいろんな野菜で試してみるつもり。

間引き菜をたくさん収穫。

春野菜はもう終わりに近いので、少しずつ片付けていく。

ベーコンとニンニクソースで炒めてお昼ごはん。

餃子、ふりかけ付き。

とてもおいしかった。

夫を見送って洗濯。

ライ麦パンを焼く。

掃除。

外は日差しが強いので、午後は家の中で過ごした。

今年はチェリーが実をつけていなくて、すごく残念。

もしかして寿命なのかもと思い、挿し木で増やしてみることに。

枝を切ってきて、鉢に植え、ビニール袋でカバー。

うまくいくといいな。

その後、ぽっかりと空いた時間があって、ああ、ひさしぶりの空白が来たと思う。

自然に、なにかつくりたいと思った。

ようやくこの時間が来てくれたことがうれしい。

お昼の残りで晩ごはん。

ワークアウトしてからようやくお庭へ。

キュウリと豆を植える畝を耕す。

トマトの畝のカバークロップを片付ける。

ライ麦を全部カット。

しゃがんでいるとセージが来て、顔を覗き込んでくるからびっくりする。

夜は読書。

『黄色い家』を読み終わる。

ずっと感じていたズレが解消されてすっとする。

最後のところでいろいろ感じることが多くて、しばらくぼうっとした。

日本語でも読んでみたいな。
