yuko's diary 5/23/25

Friday.

Dan had to go other town early, so we woke up 6.

After he left, I started my day.

I did laundry, and moved rye bread dough into the mold.

Then went outside.

I started transplanting last two kinds of tomato.

And basil.

Watered them in, and watered whole garden.

It will get hot now.

I also hand washed winter clothes.

Today I washed three of my sweater and Dan’s jacket.

The wind was blowing and it all dried pretty quick.

Dan came home and left for work.

It was already hot, so I stayed inside.

I finished my book.

Oh my, it was a great book.

What happened in Myanmar was so chilling.

The way Facebook tried to silence this book, but ended up promoting it was pretty funny.

And the writing was so good.

It’s easy to read, but couldn’t stop. I don’t know how.

I put 4 books in my backpack and walked to the library.

A boy on bike said hello to me.

I got a new book I requested them to purchase.

“The Last American Road Trip” by Sarah Kendzior.

I love road trip.

I want to do it again.

Dan told me he wants to make pasta salad, but didn’t come home yet.

So I started cooking ham, garlic, onion, and zucchini.

I did my workout too.

It was upper body and arms.

Then I boiled pasta, combined everything with tomato and olives.

We used to bring this to beach.

It tastes like beach to me.

Mets was playing against Dodgers.

Oh no.

We didn’t know who to cheer.

金曜日。

夫は朝から隣町で用事だったので早めに起きて準備。

送り出して、わたしも動き出す。

洗濯を回し、ライ麦パンの生地を型に移す。

それから外へ。

まずはトマトの植え替えから。

最後の2種類を植えて、バジルの苗も植える。

水やりをして、今日もお庭全体に水やり。

ここから暑くなる。

洗濯を干して、冬物も洗う。

今日は手洗いのセーター3枚とスカーフ、それから夫のジャケット。

風が強くてすぐ乾いた。

一旦帰宅した夫はまた手伝いに出ていった。

もう外は暑いので、わたしは室内で過ごす。

本を最後まで読み切った。

最後の最後まで、うわーと思いながら読む。

ミャンマーで何が起こっていたのか、この章が最後の方にあって、すごく重かった。

この本が出る前にfacebookが裁判を起こして、ほとんどプロモーションはされずに出版。

でもこの裁判が逆に宣伝になった。

すごい話、というだけではない、どんどん読ませる文章のうまさがすごかった。

だって、とても平易な書き方なのだ。

ロクサーヌ・ゲイは1日で読み切ったと言っていたし。

なんだろう。すごいなぁ。

他に読み終えた3冊をリュックに入れて図書館まで。

今日も自転車ボーイにハローと言われた。

みんな上半身ハダカである。そこまで暑くなくない？

リクエストして購入してもらった新しい本をゲットして帰る。

トランプの一期目に小さな子供にほんとうのアメリカを見せたくてロードトリップに出た人の話。

アメリカのロードトリップは独特の力があると思う。何にもなさがすごい。

わたしたちもまたやりたい。

夫が今日の夜はパスタサラダと言っていたけどまだ帰らないので、ハムを焼いて、タマネギ、ニンニク、ズッキーニ、サンドライドトマトを炒めておく。

先にワークアウトを済ませる。

今日は腕。毎回パンパンになる。

それからパスタを茹でて、ジェノベーゼソースであえて、炒めた具材を混ぜ、トマト、オリーブを足して、お皿に分けてからルッコラをかける。

おいしい。

NYではビーチに持っていっていたので、ビーチの思い出の味。

メッツはドジャースと対戦。

どっちを応援していいのかわからない。

9回で同点に追いついて、11回に行きかけたところでギブアップ。
