yuko's diary 5/11/26

Monday.

It was sunny day, but the temperature was low, so I waited little to water.

I started shokupan.

There was a deer, and I tried to scare it.

It didn’t work.

And then I spotted a big squirrel?

It looked like a capybara, and then I googled and decided it was woodchuck.

It is living in a pile of wood in neighbor’s yard.

This is the one who’s eating my garlic. Hmm.

I did laundry, and made lunch.

Tofu steak, broccoli, and pak choi.

I love vegetables.

After Dan left for work, I did another load of laundry.

Saige came to say hi, so I led her to woodchuck’s place, but she wasn’t interested.

She peed nearby, so I hope it helped.

I potted up tomato seedlings.

I am really behind for tomato calendar this year.

I cleaned house, and packed my winter clothes.

It was already evening.

I ate leftover for dinner and did my workout.

Then went out to water.

Chuck the woodchuck is out there again!

It’s weird that I haven’t seen him until today.

He must moved in recently, or woke up from hibernation.

He run back into woods, and came out of different places, just like those games.

It’s big problem for garden, but also funny.

I finished watering and went back to inside.

Then baked shokupan.

I shaved undercut, and took shower.

Then read my book.

Only 20 pages left, but I was too sleepy to finish.

月曜日。

今日はまた快晴、でも気温が低かったので、少し待って7時すぎに水やりに出る。

食パンを仕込む。

シカが一頭隣の空き地に来ていて、追い返しに行く。

やっぱり全然怖がってくれない。

と、なんだか大きいリスがいるなと思ったら、リスじゃなかった。

近づいてくとこちらはさっと逃げたけれど、でかい。齧歯類のなにか。

調べてみて、多分、グラウンドホッグ、別名ウッドチャックだと仮定する。

空き地に積んである木材の間に住んでいる様子。

ニンニクを食べているのはきっとこいつだ。むむ。

洗濯をして、お昼ごはんを作る。

豆腐ステーキ、ブロッコリーの甘酢炒め、チンゲン菜。

やっぱり野菜がおいしい。

夫を見送って、もう一度洗濯。

セージが遊びにきたので、ウッドチャックの巣のところに連れていったけれど、興味なし。

近くでおしっこしてくれたので、効果を期待する。

トマトの鉢上げ。

今年はうっかりしてトマト栽培が遅れをとっている。

まだ小さいけれど、外で育てている分しっかりした苗たち。がんばれー。

掃除をしたり、冬服の片付けをしているとあっという間に夕方。

お昼の残りをさっと食べて、ワークアウト。

それから水やりしにお庭へ。

ウッドチャックのチャック（と呼ぶことにした）がまたいる！

お庭と巣の間の草を熱心に食べている。

こんなに頻繁に外に出ているのなら、これまで気づかなかったなんて変だ。

それとも最近冬眠から目覚めたのかな。

近づくと木材の間に逃げ込んだけれど、じっと待っていると別の場所から顔をだす。

何回も繰り返して、まさにリアルモグラ叩きだった。あはははは。

困るけれど、おかしいよ、チャック。

水やりを終えて室内へ。

食パンを焼く。

刈り上げの部分を刈り上げて、シャワー。

後は眠くなるまで読書。

残り20ページほどなので読み終えてしまいたかったけれど、力尽きた。

明日からは仕事。
