Tuesday.

It was so windy in the morning.

I worked at the usual hospital today.

It was almost full schedule, but there were cancellations.

It was cold both outside and inside the trailer, and it was terrible.

When I went for a walk after lunch, it was sunny and warm and nice.

I bumped into my friend and high-fived on a crosswalk.

We had all kinds of patient and it still amazes me that I only know little parts of this town.

I was done by 4, and walked home.

A package of trees are there on the porch.

I opened it and soaked them in water.

Then had a quick dinner, and went to the garden.

Raspberries, Saskatoon berry, and Salal berry.

All were kinda small, and it was quick.

I watered them, and that’s it.

Then I made wonton soup.

For my lunch tomorrow.

I finished my book.

In a long author’s note, I found an answer to my question.

The reason she wrote about SA so meticulously is it is based on a real event.

It happened in NY in 2011, one year before I came to US.

That’s is why that part was way stronger, and obviously standing out from other part of this book.

And that made the last scene really great.

火曜日。

大風。

今日はいつもの病院での仕事。

朝からしっかり予定が入っていたけれど、キャンセルが続く。

トレイラーの中も外も寒いし困った。

お昼ごはんの後で散歩に出た時には真っ青に晴れていて暖かかった。

友達にばったり会って、でも横断歩道の真ん中だったのでハイタッチだけして別れた。

今日もいろんな患者さんがいらして、まだまだ会ったことがない人がたくさんいるなと思う。

こんなに小さな町なのに。

4時に上がって、歩いて帰宅。

木の苗が届いているので、開梱して水につけておく。

さっとごはんを食べて、休憩してからお庭へ。

ラズベリー、サスカトゥーンベリー、サラルベリー。

小さめの苗ばかりで、さくさくと植えられた。

水やりして終わり。

それからワンタンスープをつくった。

明日のお弁当にする。

夜は本を読んで過ごす。

最後まで読み終わった。

長い後書きの中に、疑問だったことの答えがあった。

性暴力の場面を詳細に描いた理由は、実際の事件を元にしているから。

2011年にNYで起こった事件、わたしが渡米する1年前。

恋愛や人間関係についての他のパートから際立っている理由がよくわかったし、最後の場面がとてもよかった。
