yuko's diary 4/7/25

Monday.

It was rainy and gloomy day.

No running. We both took shower.

I made potato salad using pickles which was Dan’s birthday gift.

As I had dentist at 11:30, I ate early lunch.

No pain, and took one hour.

Dan came to pick me up.

I received another box of tree.

I opened it, and put it in the water.

First, I planted crown of rhubarb.

I am growing some from seeds but this is much bigger.

Then I planted 10 crown of asparagus.

It took one row of my garden to plant them.

This only takes me two years instead of seven years of waiting.

Dan had his dentist appointment at 2pm.

While he was gone, I planted more trees.

Now I planted salmon berry and thimble berry.

Both are native plants of this area.

While I was working on by the creek, Saige was staying with me and watched carefully at the other side of creek.

I felt like she was protecting me.

Dan was asked what does my name mean, and he couldn’t remember, so he made up.

Mountain flower.

It was so far from the correct answer, it was funny.

I told him that means “help” of “gift from the above”

I made dinner of tofu steak, kale, red cabbage, miso soup and brown rice.

I like to make those for Monday so that I can take leftover for work.

It started raining from evening.

Spring shower.

Dan went to bed early.

I worked on my design work.

月曜日。

雨の朝で薄暗い。

学校も始まったし、ランニングはお休み。

交代でシャワーを浴びた。

ポテトサラダをつくる。

夫の誕生日プレゼントの一部はピクルスだったので、それとジャガイモ、少しのマヨと米酢だけのシンプルなサラダ。

11時半に歯医者さんの予約が入っていたので、トーストと合わせて早めのお昼ごはん。

前歯の間の古い詰め物を新しいのに取り替える。

麻酔がしっかり効いて、鼻も変な感じになるくらい。

1時間ほどで痛みもなく終了。

夫に迎えに来てもらって帰宅。

今日の分の木の苗が届く。

早速開梱して、水につける。

まずルバーブの根っこを植える。

種から育ててみてるけれど、全然大きさが違う。

どう育つか楽しみ。

その次にアスパラガスの根っこを10本。

畝をひとつ全部使って1列植えた。

アスパラガスも種から育てているけれど、その場合は収穫まで7年かかる。

根っこからだと2年で収穫できるみたいなので、これも来年の楽しみ。

2時からは夫が歯医者さんへ。

その間もわたしは木を植える。

残りはサーモンベリーとシンブルベリーという、この地域ネイティブのベリー。

草引きしておいた小川のそばに植えた。

セージがそばに来て、小川の向こうの車の行き来をじっと見ていた。

守ってくれているみたいで頼もしい。

歯科衛生士さんに、わたしの名前の意味を聞かれた夫、咄嗟に思い出せなくて口から出まかせを言ったそう。

全然違う！どこから出てきたんだろう。

gift from the above とか、helpって意味だよと伝える。

夜ご飯は豆腐ステーキ、紫キャベツのナムル、ケール、ジャガイモとタマネギのお味噌汁、発芽玄米。

このメニューは月曜日につくることが多い。

そうすると火曜のお弁当に残りを詰められるから。

夕方から雨。

春の嵐、今日も植え替えの後でありがたい。

夫は苦手な歯医者で疲れて早くにお布団に入っていた。
