yuko's diary 4/28/24

Sunday.

We spent some time in the bed, and it was very nice.

After having coffee, I went outside.

I moved the sprinkler to the front, put gas into the mower, but didn’t start.

So I asked Dan to do the jump start.

I mowed the yard, and also weed wacked around the garden.

I ate pancake that Dan made, and back to outside.

Now I raked the yard and collected the clippings to use as mulch.

Covered potato patch with it, and did weeding.

And that’s it, I was so tired.

Dan was cleaning his art studio.

I transplanted peppers and eggplant seedlings which weren’t doing well.

We went to play basketball after 2 pm.

It was so windy, I had to stop early.

My eyes hurt.

Back home, we had nap.

I moved seedlings inside.

It will be cold for few days.

Dan made pasta for dinner.

And we were relaxing on the bed when my friend called me.

She also calls me Yuko san.

We did little catch up, and talked about things around the world.

Things I couldn’t share with anyone else.

I felt relieved to find that she felt somewhat same.

She hang up as it was 10 there to go to bed.

Then we went to bed although it was 8 here.

It was not even dark outside.

It was a great weekend.

日曜日。

起きた後もしばらくベッドでダラダラする。

なんだかひさしぶり、とっても気持ちがいい。

コーヒー後、外へ。

スプリンクラーを前庭に移動し、芝刈り機にガソリンを入れて動かそうとしたけれど、またバッテリーが上がっている。

夫にジャンプスタートをしてもらう。

芝刈り、なんとなく夫は前庭担当、わたしはメインのお庭担当。

芝刈り機に乗っている時の、頭が無になる感じ、やっぱり好き。

さらに草刈機で、ハーブガーデンの周りもきれいにする。

夫がつくってくれたパンケーキを食べて、また外へ。

刈った草を集めて、ジャガイモの畝の上に被せていく。

少しずつ芽がのぞいている。

その後しばらく草ひきをして、さすがにもう疲れた。

夫はスタジオの掃除をしていた。

ちょっと休憩して、どうも元気のないペッパー類とナスの苗を植え替える。

2時過ぎにバスケをしにいく。

肌寒いし風は強いけれど、動くのは楽しい。

ただ風が強すぎて目がシパシパするのは困った。

40分ほど。

帰宅後、グッと疲れてお昼寝。

今日はだいぶ働いたなぁ。

早めに苗たちを家の中へ。

ここから数日はグッと冷え込む予報。

藍の植え替え、待っていて正解だった。

早めの夜ごはんは夫がパスタをつくってくれた。

おいしくいただく。

その後ベッドでダラダラしていると、友達から電話。

もともとは日本語の生徒だった彼女もわたしのことをユウコサンと呼んでくれる。

昨日のことを話して、思い出してたとこだったよ、と伝える。

近況や、社会のこと話していたらあっという間に1時間。

特にガザのことについて、誰にも話したこのないことを話せてホッとした。

時差があるので向こうはもう10時。

寝るね、と切ってからわたしたちもベッドへ。

こっちはまだ8時だけど。

電気を切ってからうとうとしたり、おしゃべりして過ごすのは楽しい。

外はまだ薄明るいのもなんだかうれしい。

よい週末だった。
