We woke up before 8.
Packed, and checked out 9.
First, we went to Uwajimaya, Japanese grocery store.
I wanted to buy miso, and other ingredients to cook,
Dan got some rice crackers and pickles.
We also got sushi for lunch. I got nigiri, Dan got inari.
Then we went to T’s place to pick up things, and saying good bye.
We all tried not to be too emotional.
On the way home, we used Dan’s phone to navigate.
First one hour, you can see lots of moss on the tree and rocks.
Well, we had at least 5 rains during our stay.
Also on this road, we saw the windmill wing was transported.
It was huge, and has pointed end,
so whenever they turn the curve, it occupy both lanes.
So, they had two cars following and blocking both of them.
Otherwise, you can hit by the wing.
On the straight line, they let other cars to pass, and we passed at some point,
but it was scary.
It was like white huge whale, and they are trying to release it to river.
We rest few times, but kept going.
On the same way, but we saw different things.
There are so much empty space in Washington state.
And beautiful.
When we rested on the hill full of windmill,
I found that the sign says that middle of state was made of lava.
North east where we live, the mountain was carved by massive flood.
Both mountains looks so interesting.
7 hours and half.
We made it to home.
Home looks just the same.
Also it looked like rained. Perfect.
I watered seedlings, and we took nap.
The whole house was cold.
Then I made ramen for late dinner.
We put lots of Japanese pickles on top.
朝８時前に起きて、さっと荷造り。
９時には出発。
まずは町外れにある、日本食のスーパー、宇和島屋へ。
実はワシントンにも二店舗かな、あるのだけど、どちらも遠いから行けてなかった。
大きな駐車場に朝からたくさんの車。
ほとんどの人がアジア人。
一番の目的は味噌。その他調味料と、夫のおかきとお漬物。
お昼ご飯も買っていく。わたしは握りの盛り合わせ。夫はいなり寿司。
そこからTの家まで行って、昨日忘れたものを受け取り、挨拶する。
あまり湿っぽくならないようにしよう、ということであっさりわかれた。
帰り道は行きと同じだけれど、夫の携帯のナビを使ってみることにした。
いちおう、メモも取ってきたので大丈夫。
ポートランドを出てから１時間くらいは、
道の脇の山の木も岩も屋久島かってくらい苔むしていて、
ここは本当に雨が多いなぁと思う。二泊三日の滞在中、最低５回は降った。
そうそう、この最初のハイウェイで、風車の羽をひとつ運んでいたのだけれど、
大きい上に先が尖っているから、カーブを曲がると二車線両方塞いでしまう。
その時、他の車が追い越さないように、別の車が二台、後ろに張り付いていた。
ときどき、真っ直ぐな道になると、一台が避けて、後続車を追い越しさせる。
白くて、大きな鯨みたいで、大きなコロンビア川の横を走っていたから、
まるで川に還しにいくみたいだった。
すこし休憩しつつ、まっすぐ帰る。
行きと同じ道なのに、見えるものが違う。
ワシントン州は、なーんにもないところがとてもきれいだなぁ。
わーお、としか言いようがない道がずっと続く。
風車が回っている丘の上で休憩しているときに見ると、
真ん中あたりは溶岩が何重にも重なってできたらしい。
わたしたちのところは、大洪水によってつくられた山。
どちらも不思議な形をしている。
走ること７時間半。
家に着いたら、どうなっているかなと思っていたけれど、
なにも変わってなかった。
チェリーが咲き始めていたくらいかな。
そしてうまい具合に雨が降ったみたいだった！
室内の苗にだけ水やりして、いったんお昼寝。
家が冷え切っていて寒い。
それから、ラーメンをつくって食べた。
買ってきた高菜をたっぷりのせた。
