Saturday.

It’s my birthday.

It was cloudy morning, but then the sun came out before noon.

I worked in the garden in the morning.

Around two apple trees, I had planted many kinds of berries, and it made it hard to mow around.

So I decided to make the area slightly bigger and made the edge clearer.

I was sweating soon.

Dan was working on the steps.

After we ate soup and sandwiches from co-op, we went to anti-ICE protest in the triangle park.

We just found out yesterday and were not sure what to expect.

It turned out a great little gathering.

When we got there, an Indigenous speaker was doing a speech on the stage, and then Tibetan Buddhist, and other speech, then in between them, we sung songs together.

Almost everyone was old white hippies, and several Hispanic people and me.

It was really nice to see lots of people fighting for us.

Barbara who I met at the seed exchange came to say hi, and told me there are more than 50 people.

50 people out of population 1000 is great turnout.

Daniel the organizer was also did lots of good speech.

He told us a mantra “Oh, what the hay, I’ll do it anyway.”

It meant to help us to overcome our fear and get involved.

One old guy was shouting at us from far, but we shouted “we love you” back.

We talked little bit with people after the event was over, and then went to culture center for the Earth Day event.

There were lots of free clothes and I took a pair of cotton shirts and Barbara told me it was hers. It fit me perfect.

We FaceTimed my friend in Arkansas for a while sitting on the table at culture center.

Back home, we took some rest, and then Dan cooked beautiful dinner.

Salmon, big bowl of salad, and rice.

While waiting, I went out and read my book on hammock.

He also got gift, card, and cake with candles.

It was all so perfect.

I did my workout and then we watched baseball.

I was happy whole day, and it was the best birthday ever.

土曜日。

誕生日。

朝は曇っていたけれど、お昼前からずっといい天気。

午前中はお庭で作業。

リンゴの木の周りにいろいろなベリーを植えているのだけど、そこの周りの草刈りをするのが大変になってきたので、境界を整えて拡げる作業。

涼しいと思っていたけれど、すぐに汗が出てくる。

夫はデックのステップの作業をしていた。

お昼はコープのサンドイッチとスープで簡単に済ませる。

それから町のプロテストへ。

昨日知ったところなんだけど、ファーマーズマーケットが行われる三角公園で、12時からあるらしい。

ICEと呼ばれる、移民を監視し誘拐し入管に連れて行く機関への反対運動。

少し遅れて行ってみると、簡素なステージの上で、様々なスピーチが行われていた。

最初に聞いたのは、Indigenousの人のお話、それからチベット仏教の僧侶。

司会のお兄さんも話がうまくて、合間に生演奏の合唱や弾き語りが入って、すごくいい雰囲気だった。

参加者のほぼほぼ全員が年配の白人のヒッピーたちで、少しだけヒスパニックの人たち、それからわたし。

種の交換会で仲良くなったバーバラが声をかけてくれた。参加者50人以上数えたと興奮気味に教えてくれた。人口1000人の町で、これは大成功だろうと思う。

わたしたち移民のために怒ってくれる人がこんなにいるんだなと体で感じると、すごく励まされるし、安心する。

司会のダニエルのスピーチの中で一番印象に残ったのは、移民のコミュニティを助けたい気持ちと、面倒ごとに巻き込まれたらどうしようという気持ちの間で揺れた時どうするかという話。

勇敢さとは、恐怖を感じないことではなくて、怖くてもやること、として、

”Oh, what the hay, I’ll do it anyway!” （えい、どうとでもなれ、それでもやるぞ）がマントラだと教えてくれた。みんなで何度も繰り返す。

途中、外野で叫んでくるおじいさんがいたけれど、”We love you!” と叫び返したのも良かった。

終わった後少しいろんな人とお話して、それからコミュニティセンターへ。

アースデイのイベントがあったので覗く。

フリーの洋服がたくさん置いてあって、ちょうど肌寒かったので、コットンの、ギンガムチェックのシャツを手に取ったら、こちらも移動してきたバーバラが、「それ、わたしのよ！もう入らないの。あなたにぴったりだわ」と言ってくれた。

袖が少し長いけれど、お庭で作業するときに羽織るのにぴったり。

そのままそこのテーブルで、アーカンサス州の友達とテレビ電話した。

買い出しして帰宅。

しばし休んだ後、夫が夕食を作ってくれた。

サーモンとボウルいっぱいのサラダ。それと白ごはん。

作ってくれている間、外のハンモックで読書。

葉っぱがまだ出てきてないので、太陽が出るとちょっと暑すぎるくらい。

呼ばれて戻ると、テーブルの上にきれいにディナーがセッティングされていた。

カードとプレゼントあり、食後にはロウソクを2本立てた小さなチーズケーキも出てきて、完璧。

ワークアウトもサボらずにやる。

コア。

野球を見て、コメディを見て早めにおふとんに入る。

今日は一日、ずっとうれしくって、最高の誕生日だった。
