yuko's diary 4/18/26

Saturday.

I woke up at 7 and got ready left at 9.

Today is the IV school day.

We got there way earlier than the starting time, and so we waited for while.

There were 8 students, and the teacher brought little pug who slept whole time and snored.

The first one hour was power point lecture, and then we practiced on each other’s arm.

My vein is not very easy to spot and also small.

But my partner’s are the same.

At some point, she called her husband, and practiced on him.

He let me do it once.

It was quick 3 hours and half, and then teacher said that we can leave anytime.

But I decided to stay till 2, and let this nurse practice on my hands, and did one on her.

Many of students were either new graduated nurse or returning nurse.

I left at 2, and Dan came to pick me up.

We left for home from there.

Dan got croquette for me, and I was hungry.

It was not as many car as the other way.

It took us little less than 5 hours.

I drove last 2 hours.

The house was so cold and I was surprised.

Saige came to say hi.

As I didn’t eat much, I was hungry.

Dan made kimcheese and I prepared wonton.

We went to bed at 9 but talked while before fell asleep.

土曜日。

7時に起きて、準備し、9時過ぎに出発。

今日はIVスクールの日。

あっという間に会場に着いて、車の中でしばらく待つ。

生徒は8人、先生はパグを連れてきていて、隅っこで小さないびきを立ててずっと寝ていた。

最初の1時間はパワーポイントの説明で、その後すぐに実践練習に入る。

隣に座った、若くてかわいらしい人とペアになってやってみる。

わたしの血管は細いし、あまり表に出てないのでやりにくいのだけど、彼女の血管も細いのでお互い様だった。

後半で、「夫の血管が太いので、練習台に呼んでもいいですか？」と先生に聞いて、彼女の夫も来て、一緒に練習させてもらった。

あっという間に3時間半が経ち、自由解散になったけれど、まだ練習したい人は残っていいとのこと。

看護師で職場復帰する人が、難しい手の甲のIVを練習したいとのことでボランティアを名乗り出る。

最後にわたしも練習させてもらった。

ほとんどの生徒は看護師か看護学生で、看護学校ではほぼ実践練習はなくていきなり患者さん相手になるらしい。こわー。

2時ちょうどに出て、夫と合流。

家に向けて出発。

夫がカツバーガーでコロッケを買ってきてくれたのでいただく。

血がたくさん出たので、身にしみる。

帰り道はシアトルから離れていくので、車も少なく、天気も良くて気持ちよかった。

全部で5時間弱。

最後の2時間をわたしが運転した。

家に着いたら家の中が冷え切っていてびっくりする。

セージが挨拶しに来てくれた。

ほとんど何も食べてなかったので、お腹が空いて、夫がつくってくれたキムチーズと、ワンタンを焼いたもので簡単に済ませる。

9時にはおふとんに入ったけれど、しばらくおしゃべりして、10時には寝た。
