Monday.
It was cloudy and cold.
It’s amazing how hard to wake up when the weather is not nice.
But the woodpecker was back, so I managed to get out of the bed.
He gave up after second try.
Coffee, and yogurt with banana.
It’s already my birthday in Japan.
I got few texts.
I moved more seedlings into the green box.
Also transplanted peppers. it might be too early though..
I knew it’ll be raining today, so no watering.
Dan was cleaning up for moving his tank desk.
It’s all steal and so heavy!
The doors in the mobile home are too small,
we had to go outside and through the school house.
We used dally, blanket, and cardboard to move it.
But we made it.
Now the mobile home has Dan’s writing room/closet, library, and art studio/sunroom.
When we make green house, I’ll move my plants and stuff out.
Slowly, and slowly, it’s getting better.
It started raining in the afternoon. I was happy.
Then Debby came to tell us that they have flood in the front yard.
I went to check, but there was nothing I can do.
Then later, she came back to tell us Tom who sold place to her and us came to check, and they made it to stop.
As we share the ex-owner, we exchange some information about him.
It seemed like our’s and Debby’s property were once a part of big orchard.
That makes sense. We see lots of abandoned orchard related equipment at the yard.
I had meeting with my friend in Tokyo.
I was happy to talk about something I cannot figure out but also cannot stop feeling.
While I was talking, Dan made a beautiful feast.
Fillet steak from local meat store, potatoes, asparagus, carrots.
We celebrated with red wine.
月曜日。
うってかわって、曇っているし寒い。
こうなると全然起きられないのだけど、またキツツキさんが来たので起き上がった。
今日は２回であきらめてくれた。
コーヒー、ヨーグルトとバナナ。
日本ではもうわたしの誕生日だな～。
ちらほらと連絡があってうれしい。
グリーンボックスの中にもう少し苗を移動させる。
ペッパー類を植え替えたり。
まだ早いかなぁとは思うけれど。
今日は雨の予報なので、水やりはなし。
夫は、去年の秋に買った、アンティークの事務机を移動させようといろいろ作業していた。
鉄製で、頑丈で、とにかく重い！！
モバイルホームの端の部屋から別の端の部屋へ移動するだけなのに、
間の扉が細すぎて通らず、一度外に出して、家の中を通らないといけない。
段ボールやブランケット、台車も使ってなんとか移動させた。
これで、モバイルホームの中が、夫の書斎兼衣服のクローゼット、図書室、アートスタジオ兼わたしのサンルーム、と分けられた。
グリーンハウスが完成したら、わたしはそっちに移動する予定。
すこしずつ、すこしずつ、整っていく。
午後からは雨。
気持ちが落ち着くなぁと思っていたら、おとなりのデビーが来訪。
前庭が水浸しになっている、とのことで見に行ったら、こんこんと水が湧いていた。
うちの先日の騒動を説明して、でもできることはあまりなく別れる。
その後、しばらくしてからまた来て、もとの持ち主のトムがきて止め方を教えてくれたと。
この、トムはわたしたちが土地を購入した家族のひとりで、
デビーといろいろ情報交換をした。
どうもここは、もともと果樹園だったそう。
となりの空き地に置きっぱなしの重機はぜんぶ果樹園関連のものだから、なるほどだ。
夕方、東京のお友達と電話。
なんとなく感じていたけれど、どうしていいのかわからないなぁと思っていたことを話せてうれしかった。
その間に夫が料理してくれて、今日はご馳走。
町の外れのお肉屋さんで買ってきてくれたフィレステーキ、アスパラガスとポテト、人参の付け合わせ。どれもおいしかった。
赤ワインでかんぱい。
