Thursday.
I woke up when Dan went work.
Coffee.
After did laundry, I took bath.
Then I was thinking to work in the garden, but decided to not.
I conceived my energy for afternoon.
Left home around 1:30.
Saige tried to follow me, but there were other people and she got distracted.
There were people having fun in the yard.
A baby smiled to me, and jumped into a paddle.
He was showing off, and so I said “nice!!”
When I arrived at the studio, they just finished a class, and the student was cleaning up.
I started applying resistance wax.
I never used this, so the student and Concetta showed me how to use.
After that, I started glazing.
Concetta left, and I was left alone which I really appreciated.
I am not good at glazing.
The way glaze dries up, how I have to act quick, how messy it is,
I don’t like it.
I never liked it since I was student.
Started with glaze called White Cloud.
And then load the kiln, switch the glaze to Eggshell.
I started 2pm, and ended at 6pm.
Pottery takes time.
Pottery needs energy.
Pottery is disappointing.
I don’t know how much of them will survive this time.
Cleaned up, and left, well the gate was locked...
The owner of nursery was not aware that I was here,
so I climbed up the old ladder and Dan had to hold and put me down.
It was raining lightly, beautiful evening.
Back home, I made kale and dumplings.
I made miso soup and rice before I left.
I was so tired.
But felt good.
We watched BEEF on Netflix.
I liked it very much.
The kimchi looked good...

夫が仕事に行くときに起きる。
コーヒー。
洗濯機を回してからお風呂。
そのあと、お庭に出ようかと思ったけれどやめておく。
午後のために体力温存。
1時半ごろ出発し、スタジオまで歩いていく。
セージがついてきて、橋をわたろうとするので困った。
ちょうど近所の人が出てきて相手をしてくれた。
天気がよく、別の家族は外でBBQをしている。
3歳くらいの男の子がニコニコ笑いかけてくれたので、挨拶すると、
みずたまりに飛び込んで自慢げに笑った。
Nice! と言ってわかれる。
スタジオについたら、陶芸教室の終わりのころで、生徒さんが後片付けしていた。
素焼きしたものを出して、まずワックスがけから。
これは釉薬をはじいてくれるので、釉薬をかけたくないところに先に塗っておく。
わたしは使ったことがないので、コンチェッタと生徒さんがいろいろ教えてくれた。
ぜんぶ終わって、釉薬がけにうつる。
コンチェッタは用事があって帰って行った。
ひとりで作業できるのはありがたい。
なぜなら釉薬がけは苦手だから。
一瞬でやらないといけないし、わたしの作品は薄いのでうまくいかないことも多い。
ああ、学生の頃から苦手だったな、と思いながらすすめる。
White Cloud という名前の釉薬から始めて、ほぼ使い切ったところで、窯に詰め始める。
やっぱりなかなか乾かなくて、ドライヤーをつかった。
その次はEggshellというもの。
こちらの方が少しだけ扱いやすかった。たぶんマット系だからかな。
2時から始めて、たっぷり6時までかかる。
ずっと立ちっぱなしで作業していた。
そうだ、陶芸は時間がかかるし、体力いるし、結果の成功率低いし。
今回もどうなるかあまりわからない。
終わって、片付け、夫に連絡して迎えにきてもらう。
と、外のゲートの南京錠がしまっている。
園芸店のひとが閉めちゃったんだな～。
登れなくはないけれど、向こう側に足をかけるところがないな。
夫が来て、いろいろ考えて、古い梯子をかけてのぼり、向こうでだっこから降ろしてもらった。
ふう、冒険。
小雨が降っていて、不思議な雰囲気だった。
帰ってケールを炒め、餃子を焼く。
出かける前にごはんとお味噌汁は作ってあったので、それと一緒に晩ご飯。
ああ、つかれた～。
でも心地よい疲れ。
夜、Netflix で話題のBEEFを見始める。
メインがみんなアジア人。
主人公の夫は日系で、義理の母の前ではJoji と呼ぶけれど、いない時はGeorgeと呼んでいるところとか、細かくて好き。
もうひとりの主人公がローカルのコリアンレストランでカクテキを食べていて、うらやましかった。
舞台はたぶんLA。
