Friday.
Dan was working for half day.
I woke up with him and had coffee and toast.
Then took bath.
It was snowing again.
I decided to transplanted rest of sweet potatoes and to the empty pot,
I transplanted lavender.
They need much sun.
It will be few more weeks until we get too much sun.
Dan came home early.
We paid the utilities with checks.
Then we went out to work in the garden.
I asked him to make a straight line around my new native wild flower garden.
He tilled alongside the line.
I cleaned up around the asparagus.
And moved many stones.
Dan also fixed green boxes that he made last year with old windows.
2 of them were broken by snow, and so he could attached one glass back, but we need to figure out for other one.
He also made it stronger.
Dan went to co-op to get lunch.
He got me chili and my favorite, corn bread.
Then we made a plan for his birthday in the end of month.
We are going to Canada!
It’s only 30 minutes away.
I checked Canadian website, and I only need my passport and green card.
Then we went out again.
I planted 4 kinds of native wild flower.
Hope it will work.
Dan made tomato pasta.
He loves eating toast with it.
He dips in the sauce which his Sicilian grandma did.
She grew tomatoes in her tiny garden in outside of Chicago.
When she made sauce which took her days, everyone dipped buttered toast in it.
It sounds delicious.
We did stretching and went bed early.
金曜日、夫は半日仕事。
見送ってコーヒーとトースト。
そのあとお風呂。
外に出たかったけれどまた雪が降っている。
残りのサツマイモも植え替えて、こんどはラベンダーの苗を植える。
こちらも太陽がかなり必要なのでひょろひょろとしている。
毎日晴れるようになるのはまだもう少し先。
夫早めに帰宅。
公共料金の支払いをする。
その頃には雪が止んでいたので外に出る。
夫も手伝ってくれることに。
ネイティブワイルドフラワーガーデンの線をまっすぐひいて、表土を裏返してくれた。
わたしはアスパラガスを植えたあたりを慎重に掃除し、また石を運ぶ。
去年夫が古い窓ガラスでつくってくれたグリーンボックスのガラスが、雪で割れたり外れたりしていたので、それの修復もして、さらに補強してくれた。
途中、コープでお昼を買って来てくれて休憩。
わたしのはチリと大好きなコーンブレッド。夫はオリーブとクリームチーズのサンドイッチ。
ほんとおいしい。
そのまま休憩がてら、月末の夫の誕生日の予定を立てる。
カナダに旅行に行くつもりにしている。
週末外国に行くなんて、と盛り上がる。
でもここの人たちは夜ご飯だけ食べに行ったりしているみたい。なにしろ車で30分だし。
いちおう国境を越えるので少し調べたけれど、夫はパスポート、わたしはパスポートとグリーンカードだけで良さそうだ。
その後もまた外へ。
表面をざっと整えて、ネイティブの種を4種類植えた。
うまく育ってくれますように。
夫がトマトパスタをつくってくれた。
ソースを多めにあたためて、バターを塗ったトーストをつけて食べるのが夫の好きな食べ方。
パスタとトースト？ってずっと思っていたけれど、試してみるとたしかにおいしい。
ピザみたいな味だけど、ずっと素朴だ。
シチリア系のおばあちゃんは、シカゴ郊外の家の小さな庭でトマトを育ていたそう。
おばあちゃんが何日もかけてソースをつくると、みんな味見用にトーストにつけて食べた。
それは確かにおいしい記憶だろうな。
夜はどうしたっけ。
ストレッチして早めに寝たと思う。
