yuko's diary 2/1/25

Saturday.

It was covered light snow.

The sun was out.

Coffee, yogurt.

I decided to try to make sourdough bread.

It’s very simple: water, flour, salt, starter, that’s all.

Mixed together, and stretch and fold for 3 times, it was not as difficult as I thought.

I also tried to work on sprouted peppers and eggplants, but the potting soil was all frozen.

I had to break it to pieces and put inside.

While waiting for the dough to rise, we went for a walk.

It was sunny and warm for a second and then it was cold and windy.

Our body was warm, but faces are cold.

I couldn’t tell if it rose or not, but decided to go to the next step.

I am not sure what I am doing, and that felt fun.

I also moved wood chips in the morning and in the evening.

I am almost done for around tomato patches, but tried not to push myself.

My hip is still little sore.

We made salad and fish nugget for dinner.

My workout was arms.

It is really helping my garden work.

I am stronger, and don’t get tired as easily as I used to.

I did little pilates.

We watched “The Trial” directed by Orson Welles.

It was originally a novel by Kafka.

It was really weird and everything was confusing, but the set was so beautiful.

I was wondering where they took this movie, and it turns out it was in Yugoslavia, Dubrovnik, Rome, Milan and Paris.

It was not easy to watch, but that is a good feeling.

土曜日。

朝起きたら一面に軽い雪。

太陽も出てきた。

コーヒー、ヨーグルト。

悩んだけれど、サワードウ王道のカンパーニュに挑戦してみる。

パン種、全粒粉、水、塩、材料はこれだけ。

混ぜて、伸ばして畳んで休ませるを30分おきに5回。

とりあえずここまでは思っていたよりは難しくない。

合間に、発芽したシシトウやナスの種を植えようと土を用意したら、完全に凍っている。

困った。とりあえず、バケツに移せる分だけ移して、室内で溶けるのを待つしかない。

一次醗酵させている間に散歩に出る。

太陽が出て暖かいねと話している間にどんどん曇って風が出てきた。

それでもまだそこまで寒くはない。

体は温まって、でも顔はすごく冷たい。

醗酵が終わっているのかの見極めもまだ怪しいけれど、できていることにして成形。

これも思っていたより簡単だった。

冷蔵庫でひと晩寝かせる。

何が正解かわからないまま進む感じ、おもしろい。

ウッドチップを運ぶ作業は腰に気をつけながら、朝と夕方に2回。

あと少しでトマトの畝の間が埋められるけれど、焦っても仕方ない。

体の調子を見て終える。

夜ご飯はサラダとフィッシュナゲット。

今日はわたしがサラダを担当した。

ワークアウトは腕。

やっぱり少しずつでも筋肉がついていくと疲れにくいし、特にお庭の作業が楽だと気づいた。

あと、寒さに少し強くなった。冷えとりとはまた違う方向で。

このシリーズ、しばらく続けるつもり。

その後ピラティスもする。

夜、夫が見つけた古い映画を見る。

カフカの『審判』をオーソン・ウェルズが監督で映画化したもの。

最初からえええ？というスタートで始まる。

終始、夢の中にいるような感じで、夫と何回も顔を見合わせた。

とにかくセットが圧巻。

カフカの故郷チェコでは撮影が許されず、ユーゴスラビア、ドゥブロヴニク、ローマ、ミラノ、パリで撮影したとのこと。

画面は流石に美しかった。

ひさしぶりに、理解できないようなものを見て、なんだかそれも爽快だった。
