Sunday.

Dan went to work.

It was 14 degrees in the morning, and the toilet in the trailer was frozen.

Oops.

We did what we had to do in the morning together.

It felt like the end of holiday.

While working on that, I started making pumpkin soup.

I made it as usual, but it turned out watery.

I guess the pumpkin was watery.

We ate it anyway with pasta.

After Dan left for work, I did laundry.

When I was cleaning the kitchen, I saw the neighbor’s car was stopping at the end of the road.

The wife came out and started walking towards me with portable oxygen.

I ran out of the door and met her in the middle.

She bought us Christmas cookies.

It was so sweet.

She spelled my name Yokou.

I did knitting in the afternoon.

I gave up on the new pattern, and started as my usual go-to socks.

It must be my 5th or 6th, and I don’t have to think too much with this pattern.

I added sweet potato, potato, and chutney to the soup.

It ended up really thick and I liked it.

I ate soup for dinner.

It will be cold again tonight.

I made fire and put heater in the trailer.

The ice was melted already.

While knitting, I saw a YouTube video about this 70 year old lady who lives by herself.

She bake bread in a mud oven, and do wood carving.

I want to be like her.

I couldn’t sleep well.

日曜日。

夫は仕事の日。

朝はマイナス10度で、トレイラーのトイレが凍結した。あらら。

朝、しなければいけなかった事務仕事を一緒にやる。

年末はこれからだけど、休みが終わった感じ。

作業をしながらカボチャスープを仕込む。

いつも通りにしたのに、カボチャが水っぽかったのか、水の分量が多すぎたのか、どうしても薄い。

諦めて、パスタと一緒に食べた。

夫を見送って洗濯を回す。

台所を片付けていると、近所の人の車が停まるのが見えた。

あれ、と思っていると、奥さんが携帯の酸素吸入機を持ちながら歩いてきたので、慌てて迎えにいく。

クリスマスのクッキーを届けてくれたのだった。

わたしの名前がYokou になっているのはご愛嬌。

少しおしゃべりして、車まで送っていった。

午後は編み物。

結局、新しいパターンは諦めて、いつもの靴下を編む。

考えなくても編めるので楽だ。

スープにはサツマイモ、ジャガイモ、チャツネを足して煮込んだ。

これでグッと濃くなってくれて満足。

夜はスープを食べる。

今日も冷え込むので、暖炉に火を入れて、暖房をあちこちに設置。

昨日の凍結分は問題なく溶けてくれたのでホッとしている。

編み物をしながら見たYoutube で、70歳のおばあさんが、ひとりで暮らしながら、昔ながらの薪でパンを焼いたり、木を切って彫刻を作る様子をやっていた。

わー、すごく好き。

こんなふうになりたいな。

夜はなぜかよく眠れなかった。
