Friday.

Dan was off today.

We woke up not too late.

After breakfast, we went for a walk.

I wanted to pick up my books from the library.

There was a new librarian.

We had leftover soup for lunch with sprout salad.

It was simple but good lunch.

Then we went to get Christmas tree.

The store we bought last year didn’t carry any, and Dan was told to go check the nursery.

Their trees were skinny and little skimpy.

Dan was not very happy but I don’t really have any preferences.

And it was $25.

We bought one and brought home.

Cut the bottom, and put it up on the stand, and water it.

Put up the lights, and ornaments, now it looks much better.

Actually, with less leaves, you can see more ornaments.

Dan was happy in the end.

We started cooking early dinner.

I roasted potatoes in the oven.

It took long time, but it turned out really good.

Dan cooked steak, and everything was great.

At 5pm, I had family meeting with my parents, my brother’s family, and their accountant.

It was a lot of information, and my head hurt in the end.

But it was nice to see the clearer picture.

Dan went to bed early, but my head was still fully awake few more hours after that.

金曜日。

夫も休みの日。

そんなに寝坊せずに起きる。

朝ごはんの後すぐに散歩に出る。

図書館に頼んでいた本が届いているので、それを受け取りに。

新しい司書さんが働いていて、挨拶した。

お昼は昨日の残りのスープと、スプラウトのサラダ。

あっさりと、でも満足のいくごはん。

午後、クリスマスツリーを買いに出る。

去年買ったところにはなくって、町の人に教えてもらった、植木屋さんへ。

これまで買ってきた、すごくみっしりと葉の生え揃ったものはなくて、夫はちょっとがっかりしていたけれど、25ドルで安かったのと、他に当てがなく、買って帰ることに。

わたしはあんまりこだわりもない。

家について、枝を切って、スタンドに入れ、水をあげる。

ライトをつけて、飾りを飾っていくと、葉がスカスカだから逆に飾りがよく見える。

夫も最終的にはとても気に入っていた。

早めの晩ごはんに取り掛かる。

ジャガイモをオーブンでローストして、ブロッコリーは甘酢ぽい感じで炒める。

ローストポテトが思ったより時間がかかったけれど、カリカリで揚げたものより好きかもしれない。

夫がステーキを焼いてくれて、スプラウトと自家製キムチとで、なんだか豪勢な晩ごはんになった。

食後、ライ麦パンを焼き上げる。

5時から実家の打ち合わせにオンラインで参加。

税理士さんが来てくれて、事前にもらっていた資料に沿って、丁寧に説明してくれた。

ぼんやりとしか想像していなかったことが急に現実になり、頭がフル回転。

2時間でとっても疲れた。

その後、夫は早々に寝ていたけれど、わたしは頭が冴えてしまって眠れなかった。
