Sunday.

I woke up late and had coffee and oatmeal.

I don’t put syrup recently.

We cleaned the house and went to the barter faire.

They have been camping from Thursday night, so by Sunday afternoon, they want to give away many things.

We love those table saying “take one, leave one.”

I got a safety pin with rainbow beads on it.

I brought my garlic, and Dan brought pears.

We just gave them anyone, and also use it to barter.

No one said no to pear.

It must be nice to have fresh fruit after 3 days camping.

We got the usual tamales and yakisoba from the Mexican chef we like.

I gave him my garlic, and they were so happy.

Dan bought an old book for 1$.

We got brand-new sneaker for free.

In the end, I found this Christmas ornament made by gold thin metal.

It was a Santa on biplane.

While we were chatting with the lady from the booth, she suddenly asked me if I was Japanese in Japanese.

She told us that she used to live in Shizuoka, 40 years ago.

Her Japanese was still good.

When I asked for the ornament, she just gave it to me.

So I gave her my last garlic.

She bowed to me.

We left there at 3 pm.

It was a fun faire.

Back home, we watched Mets and Dodgers.

It was not a good game.

We ate quesadillas for dinner, and I took pill before going to bed.

日曜日。

のんびり起きてコーヒーとオートミール。

最近は甘くしないで食べるのが好き。

片付けてから12時前に出発。

今日は恒例のヒッピーのお祭りへ。

木曜の夜から、日曜まで山の上に泊まり込みでヒッピーたちがお店を出している。

日曜にはもう帰る人も多くて、もう全部持ってけドロボーみたいに投げやりになっている人も多いので狙い目だ。

「一つとって、一つ置いていって」というテーブルがよくあるので、チェックして回る。

安全ピンに、ビーズを虹色につけたものをとっていく。

安全ピンはセーフスペースであることを示すもの。

わたしはニンニクの残りを、夫は仕事場から持ってきた洋梨を配って回った。

もちろん物々交換にも使う。

梨いる？と聞くとみんな喜ぶ。

3日もキャンプした後のフルーツは嬉しいよね。

お昼はいつものタマレの他に、去年ぐらいからお気に入りのメキシカンのシェフのところでヤキソバを買う。

ニンニクをあげたらすごくよろこんでくれた。

夫は古本を1ドルで購入。

あと、フリーと書かれた新品のスニーカーをもらっていく。

後で調べたら、デンマークのブランドものだった。わーい。

帰りがけに寄った出店では、クリスマスの飾りがあった。

薄い金色の金属の板で作ってあるオーナメントで、サンタが複葉機に乗っているのがなんだかとても可愛かった。

お店のおばさんとしゃべってたら、いきなり「日本人ですか？」と聞かれる。

40年前に静岡に住んでいたとのこと。

「もう忘れちゃった」とおっしゃるけれど、かなりスムーズな日本語。

サンタさんをください、と言ったら、「おみやげ」と言ってくれた。

代わりにニンニクをあげる。お辞儀して見送ってくれた。

3時に撤収。

ご飯を食べた時間を除いても、2時間以上歩いていた。

でも疲れていない。

楽しかった。

帰宅して、土埃にまみれたカムリをさっと洗車し、さぁ野球だ。

今日からリーグ優勝をかけてメッツとドジャースが対戦。

千賀選手はものすごく不調で、最初から点を入れられてしまった。

その後も全然振るわず。

せめて点を入れて欲しいと思いながら後半まで見たけれどダメだった。

夜、今日は寝る前に薬を飲んでみることにした。
