yuko's diary 1/3/25

Friday.

Dan was off.

We woke up late.

Coffee, yogurt.

Dan had to work from home for 2 hours.

So I started packing Christmas decorations.

I packed all ornaments and lights, and asks him to bring tree outside.

Then I removed all branches.

Packed them in cardboard boxes for next year’s kindlings.

The main pole will be dried for fire wood.

Nothing goes wasted.

We had soup for lunch.

Dan loves naan from store, and he ate a lot since yesterday.

It was snowing whole afternoon, but hardly accumulated.

Maybe it was part rain, I don’t know.

I was thinking about seeds.

I cooked chicken thigh with ginger and garlic.

And Dan made a big bowl of salad.

We’ve eating lots of vegetables.

Today’s workout was glutes and hamstrings.

I was so tired and didn’t know why, but realized that because I worked outside.

Staying in cold requires lots of energy.

We ate little more soup.

We love making big pot of soup for winter weekends.

We started watching new series.

In that English show, I heard they say Dan in the same way I say.

I was told that only American A was different, but never heard anyone say it.

That made me happy.

金曜日。

夫も休み。

のんびり起きる。

コーヒー、ヨーグルト。

夫は自宅で2時間仕事。

その間にクリスマスの片付けをする。

ひとつずつオーナメントを外して、いくつかの空き箱にしまっていく。

また来年まで。

それから台座から外した木を夫に外に運んでもらう。

結構すでに乾燥してきている。

玄関のポーチで、枝を落としていく。

段ボール4箱分になったこれは、来年の焚き付けに。

芯のところは乾いてから薪に。

無駄のでないクリスマスが好き。

お昼は昨日のスープに市販のナン。

夫はこのナンが好きで昨日も食べていた。

外はずっと雪が降っているのだけれど、一向に積もっていかない。

細かい、それでいて雨に近い雪。これはなんて呼ぶのだろう。

編み物をしたり、種をあちこちの種屋さんから購入するために色々考えたり。

晩ごはんは鶏もも肉をニンニクと塩で焼いて、夫がサラダを作って、その上に乗せて食べた。

もりもり野菜を食べるのは楽しい。

今日のワークアウトは太ももとおしり。

なんだかとてもキツく感じて、なんでだろうと考えていたら、寒い中外で作業したからだと思いつく。

寒い中動くのはとてもエネルギーを使う。

夜にもう少しスープを食べた。大きな鍋もほぼ空っぽ。

冬の間の週末はスープが定番になってきた。

夜、イギリスのシリーズを試してみる。

登場人物のひとりが夫と同じ名前で、発音がわたしと同じでうれしくなった。

聖人由来のこの名前、アメリカ英語でだけ発音がちょっと違うと聞いていたのだけど、初めて発音するところを聞いた。

アメリカではAが濁るので、他人に伝えるときは意識しないと伝わらない。

でも夫もユウコにウが入ることが理解できないのでお互い様なのだった。
