Work day.
I woke up with Dan.
Coffee, banana, fig newman.
I left home around 7:20.
It’s much easier to walk without ice.
It was slow in the morning.
We had 2 hours break.
I finished one story.
It’s supposed to be a diary and all grammar is messed up.
i.e. Thomas funny.
But it became fun to read by the end of story.
I’m curious how they translate this into Japanese.
We had three Hispanic patients in the afternoon.
One of them is no English and Spanish illiterate.
We used online interpreter and also Google translate.
It took long time, but the next patient was so nice.
He just moved from Mexico, and had hard time at the airport.
I can only imagine.
All I can say was ¿bien? but he understood me.
I want to learn more.
The interpreter is so professional.
I don’t think I can do it in Japanese
By the time I finished it was almost 5.
Dan came to pick me up.
I made dinner in hurry.
Kale, tofu, and rice.
We both were tired and went to bed by 9.
お仕事の日。
夫と一緒に起きて、コーヒー。
バナナとフィグケーキ。
7時20分ころ出発。
もうだいぶ歩きやすくなっている。
今日は午前中はとてものんびりしていた。
お昼2時間くらい空いて、ランチを挟んでしっかり本を読む。
日記形式になっている短編を読み終えたのだけれど、
文法がめちゃくちゃで、例えばbe動詞がすべて抜け落ちてる。i.e. Thomas funny.
急いで書いている設定だからか、しゃべっている風だからか。
でもだんだんそれが癖になっておもしろかった。
岸本さんはこれをどう訳したのかな。
午後はヒスパニック系の人3人。
そのうちのひとりは英語を全く話さず、スペイン語の読み書きもなしで、いちばん時間がかかった。
オンラインの通訳さんを頼んで、最後はgoogle 翻訳アプリの音声機能でなんとかなる。
でも1時間も押してしまった。
その次の人は長いこと待たされたのにとっても陽気だった。見習いたい。
メキシコから来たばかり、寒いよと言っていた。
空港の通関がひどく、大変な目にあったらしい。
（アメリカの移民局はヒスパニック系の移民を差別するので）彼の経験はわたしの比ではないだろうけれど、想像はできる。
今日わたしが言えたのは、¿bien? だけだった。
(Is everything) good? ということだけど、うなずいてくれた。伝わってうれしい。
プロの通訳さんはほんとうにすごい。
専門用語だらけなので、わたしは日本語でもできないと思う。
終わったら5時近く、もうトラックが迎えに来ていた。
今日はMRIの機械を別の街に移動する日。
夫が迎えに来てくれて帰る。
疲れてたけれど、さささっと晩ご飯をつくる。
ケールを炒めて、豆腐を衣をつけて揚げ、ごはんを炊く。
いつもはひとつずつやるけれど、いちおう同時進行もできる。
夫も疲れていて、9時すぎには寝たと思う。
